The AIC 2022 will feature a total prize pool of US$2,000,000, which is the highest for AIC to date. The champion of AIC 2022 will not only win the highest honor of the top AoV esports, but also walk away with US$700,000. The first runner-up will win US$350,000.
Results of the Group Stage draw
Hailing from across 10 regions, the 16 teams will be facing off their strongest opponents during the Group Stage from 16 June to 19 June. Fans and players can look forward to a dynamic viewing experience as teams showcase their best skills and strategy while scaling the championship ladder.
The Group Stage will consist of 4 groups
AIC 2022 Tournament format
The AIC 2022 Group Stage will be split into 2 phases, where all matches will be played in a single round-robin format. Taking place on 16 June and 17 June, the first phase of the Group Stage will see matches being played in a Best-of-1 (BO1) format, with the top 3 teams of each group advancing to phase 2. Phase 2 will then be played on 18 June and 19 June, with the top teams of each group advancing to the playoffs. Matches in phase 2 will be played in a Best-of-2 (BO2) format, in which a result of 2-0 will earn the winning team 3 points and 0 points will go to the losing team. Tying 1-1 will give teams 1 point each. The global ban pick rules will also be implemented to enhance the strategy and pick diversity of the teams.
The playoffs will comprise the Quarter Finals (23 June to 26 June) and Semi Finals (2 July to 3 July). The top four teams of each group from the Group Stage will be separated into four different matchups for the first round of the Quarter Finals. They will be going up against the teams with the second highest points of each group from the Group Stage by random through the Quarter Finals draw. Matches will be played in a double-elimination format. The losing teams will drop to the loser bracket, where they will compete against other losing teams. The first round of the Quarter Finals will be played in the Best-of-5 format, while the subsequent matches will be played in the Best-of-7 format. The top 2 final teams that fended all competition will meet once again at the Grand Final on 10 July to compete for the overall championship title.
