2020 LoL Pacific Championship Series Summer Split Week 6 Results

PSG Talon (PSG) bounced back from a poor Week 5 with four wins on the Super Week, including important wins over league leader, Taipei J Team (JT), and ahq eSports club (AHQ). AHQ, PSG and Machi Esports (MCX) are now tied for 2nd place with 12W4L. Other than PSG, the top four teams all suffered a loss and one particular defeat that stood out was MCX’s match against Alpha Esports (ALF).

The highly-inconsistent ALF secured two victories out of the three attempts to book their spot for the playoffs. Joining them in the playoffs is Hong Kong Attitude (HKA), whose red-hot start to the split was short-lived. However, a win over Nova Esports (NOV) earned them enough wins to avoid a 9th or 10th place finish.

All Taipei and Hong Kong-based teams are now officially confirmed for the Summer playoffs, leaving four Southeast Asian teams to fight for the remaining two playoff berths. NOV and Berjaya Dragons (BJD) still have a significant lead over 9th place, Liyab Esports (LYB), and 10th place, Resurgence (RSG). All four teams have shown glimpses of brilliance in their recent games but weren’t able to translate them into victories.

There is plenty to look forward to in the final week of the Regular Season, with the top two spots that grants bye rounds in the Upper Bracket of the playoffs still very much up for grabs between the top four teams.

Match of the Week - ahq eSports club (AHQ) vs PSG Talon (PSG)

Very little separates these two teams. The loss of Candy as PSG’s main mid-laner meant a quick adjustment to Tank, the Korean player replacing Candy. MAD team mid-jug duo of Uniboy and Kongyue that returned to AHQ started performing well this split and has shown significant improvement, thanks to Uniboy’s widening champion pool. However, this match came down to an insane sequence of events in favor of PSG starting with a crucial Baron steal by River, followed by Unified’s insane outplay that got him a triple-kill to turn the game on its head for PSG.
