2020 LoL Pacific Championship Series Summer Split Week 9 Results

Three teams were sent home in Week 9 as all the PCS 2020 Summer Split Playoffs action this week revolved around the Lower Bracket matches. 1st seed Taipei J Team (JT) found themselves in the uncomfortable position of being in the Lower Bracket after their loss against Machi Esports (MCX). They played Nova Esports (NOV) on Day 1 and were able to sweep them 3-0, to advance to the next round.

Berjaya Dragons (BJD) surprised everyone in the previous week after beating Alpha Esports (ALF), but they had an uphill task on Day 2 when going up against the 2nd seed, ahq eSports club (AHQ). BJD put on a good showing against the heavily-favoured team, but unfortunately stumbled in the crucial Game 4. They had an early lead in the game that if they had won, would have forced a tiebreaker Game 5. However, AHQ managed to creep back into the game with good team fights to end the series 3-1.

The winners from the previous days met on Day 3. The battle between the two top seeds, JT and AHQ, was expected to end in bloodshed, as AHQ tried to emulate MCX’s strategy of banning Nestea champions, which alas, didn’t work in their favor. JT was simply flawless on the day with Lilv, Nestea, and Rest all earning the MVP each, eliminating AHQ from the Playoffs with the result of 3-1 in the series.
