Asus Unveils a New Range of Rog Gaming Laptops at CES 2022

At CES 2022, Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) unveiled new gaming laptops and tablets. The Asus ROG 2022 series features a new operating system, new Intel and AMD CPUs, AMD and NVIDIA GPUs, and a new form factor. ROG also announced new Archer gear bag accessories and a new update to the free ROG Citadel XV digital experience, which includes all of the new products for gamers to check out.

Despite the effects of COVID on the event, ASUS ROG brought plenty of power to kick off CES 2022, including the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 3070 Ti, as well as AMD and Intel's latest mobile chips, into their laptop lineup.

The inclusion of Nvidia's flagship Ti GPUs in ASUS ROG's gaming laptops is the main highlight of the company's CES 2022 announcements (the rest of the ASUS range will be revealed tomorrow). The mobile cards, according to ASUS, will have 70 percent more performance than the RTX 2070 SUPER GPUs in the previous generation of laptops and will have more power in a smaller chassis than the original desktop TITAN RTX.

The CPU and GPUs aren't the only things that have been updated. The ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo 16 now comes with ROG Nebula HDR, a mini-LED screen with 512 dimming zones and a maximum brightness of 1100 nits.

ASUS has also added DDR5 memory to its laptop lineup, with 5200MHz LPDDR5 RAM now standard in the ROG Flow Z13.

ROG Strix SCAR, Strix G (2022 Models)

The i9-12900H mobile processor, DDR5 4800MHz memory, and a suite of three IPS displays for the ROG Strix SCAR and Strix G include 1080p/300Hz, 1440p/240Hz, and a 1440p/165Hz model for the 15-inch Strix SCAR. 1080p/360Hz or 1440p/240Hz will be available on the 17-inch Strix SCAR.

In the 15-inch Strix G15, users can choose between 1080p/144Hz, 1080p/300Hz, and 1440p/165Hz. A 1080p/144Hz, 1080p/360Hz, or 1440p/240Hz display can be added to the G17. The Strix SCAR, as in previous years, will be powered by Intel 12th-gen processors, while the G15 and G17 will be powered by AMD's Ryzen 6000-series mobile processors.

The SCAR and Strix G have been updated to include a MUX Switch for improved GPU performance, a larger trackpad, Dolby Atmos spatial sound support, two-way AI-powered noise cancellation for remote calls, a 90Wh battery, 100W USB-C charging, and Wi-Fi 6E support, as well as a 90Wh battery and 100W USB-C charging.

ASUS ROG’s Zephyrus M16, G14, G15

Since its introduction, the Zephyrus line has been one of ASUS's most popular laptops, and it's no surprise that the line has received the most recent hardware updates this year. The updated G14 will be available in 2022 and will include Windows 11, Ryzen 9 CPUs, Ryzen RX 6000S-series mobile GPUs, DDR5 RAM, and a MUX Switch for better GPU performance.

A slightly less powerful version of the 16:10 Nebula display will be included in the 2022 G14, with a maximum brightness of 500 nits, a 1440p/120Hz screen, and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color gamut for content creation.

The slightly larger Zephyrus G15 and M16 models have also been updated to include new AMD and Nvidia hardware as well as Wi-Fi 6E support.

ROG Zephyrus Duo 16

In 2022, ASUS will release the dualscreen Zephyrus Duo 16 with a GeForce RTX 3080 Ti, a Ryzen 9 6980HX, and the most powerful version of its Nebula Display. The screen is a mini-LED 16:10 panel with 1440p, 165Hz, 1100 nits of maximum brightness, and a 100,000:1 contrast ratio, making it ideal for watching HDR movies and playing HDR games.

Dual Spec, a feature that allows fast switching between 4K/120Hz and 1080p/240Hz depending on the situation, is also included with the dualscreen.

The Zephyrus Duo 16 is now the size of a traditional 15-inch laptop, making it slightly smaller than last year's model. ASUS also confirmed that Dying Light 2 would include exclusive support for dualscreen technology in the Zephyrus Duo 16, though no details on how that would play out in-game were provided.

ROG Flow Z13, X13 and XG Mobile

One of ASUS's biggest announcements at last year's CES was the minimalist, lightweight-focused Flow line. The Z13 and X13 are back with new hardware for CES 2022. The Z13 can be configured with up to an i9-12900H processor, RTX 3050 Ti GPU, and DDR5 5200MHz RAM, as well as a 1TB PCIe SSD drive, USB-C fast charging, and a 4K/60Hz or 1080p/120Hz screen. (The X13 has many of the same features, but uses Ryzen 6000-series CPUs instead of Intel's latest offerings.)

ASUS's external GPU dock, the XG Mobile, will support either an RTX 3070 or an RX 6850M XT mobile GPU in 2022.

New ROG Strix gaming desktops are also available

Throughout the pandemic, pre-built gaming desktops (and laptops) have grown in popularity, especially as new CPUs, GPUs, and DDR5 RAM have become increasingly difficult to come by.

The ROG Strix GT15 2022 model, like their laptops, features an i7-12700KF CPU, an RTX 3080, and up to 64GB DDR4 3200MHz memory. For LAN parties, the case has a carrying handle, which could come in handy if and when they become popular again.
