Back 4 Blood - The Developers Behind Left 4 Dead Is Back With Another Zombie Franchise PC PlayStation Xbox

It feels like the developer and the game itself was "raised from the dead" after many years. Just kidding. Turtle Rock Studios, the team behind the original Left 4 Dead, is back alongside Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment as their publisher, to announce their newest zombie apocalypse game - Back 4 Blood. Yes, with a "4".

It was a big announcement and a real surprise for everyone. Who would've thought that they're cooking something great for us after all those silent years? Just by looking at the game poster, you can already see the similarity between their work on L4D and Back4Blood. If you watch the trailer, it looks like a reskin of L4D but it feels unique and new especially the fact that B4B has a clear origin story.

According to the press, they're aiming to release it on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store on June 22, 2021. But, for those who can't wait and are feeling good with their chances right now, you may try your luck in their Closed Alpha Registration. As always, the links are down below.

Registration doesn't guarantee access hence the word "luck". And, oh, another thing to take note of - THE ALPHA TEST IS ON PC. There's still time before the window of opportunity closes. The alpha test will begin this coming December 17th and will run until December 21st.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment President, David Haddad, told the press that Turtle Studios is the perfect partner for creating this new franchise. And Turtle Rock Studios co-founder and design director, Christ Ashton, added how happy they are to show the world what they've been working on and give us a new compelling zombie experience. Yes, sir! We truly are waiting for you for a very, very, long time.

During their announcement, they showcased a gameplay demo and it looks amazing! It truly fits the title of being the "successor" of Lead 4 Dead's legacy of a zombie co-op game. But, who knows? Maybe one day, we'll see a universe wherein L4D and B4B will crossover. That would be pretty epic, isn't it?

What's new? Well, as far as I can see from the shared information about the game mechanics, there's one particular feature that I can safely say is NEW. There's this “roguelike” card system that will be implemented in the game that will make the game extremely replayable and enjoyable at the same time.

And according to the press release, I think it has something to do with character "builds". It's like a card system running under some RNG that will give you random perks every run. It will make your new runs unique from your previous runs. But, I can't fully confirm this and we'll just see it once the alpha test begins.

Aside from that new card system, there's nothing in particularly new "new". The characters and your enemies have all-new looks and names. But, we're still going to get 4 playable characters and fight for survival against hordes of zombies and mutated bosses. Don't get me wrong here tho. That's what made Left 4 Dead great after all!

All credit for the images, content, and trailers, goes to Turtle Rock Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Thank you for another great game that we can look forward to this coming year along with many other exciting ones we've seen. With that being said, is it just me or does it really feel like developers are racing right now? I truly think 2021 is a glorious time to be alive as a gamer!
