Dre: BAYANI’s New Playable Character Is Now Available BAYANI is the first All-Filipino made fighting game that is heavily inspired by the Philippines’ rich history, culture, and mythology.
MANILA, PHILIPPINES, September 26, 2019—BAYANI: Kanino Ka Kakampi?!, a fighting game developed by Ranida Games, recently released its first major update last September 18, 2019 after its Steam Early Access launch last June 12, 2019. The update’s main highlight is the game’s newest playable character: Dre. The character is heavily inspired by Andres Bonifacio, one of the Philippines’ National Heroes and is known as the “The Father of the Philippine Revolution.” To celebrate this milestone, the game is currently on sale with 25% off until October 4, 2019 (PST).
With the addition of Dre, the roster is now 5 out of 9 from the initial list of characters. Along with the new playable character, the update also features Oria’s Stage—Campo Monumento—which is based from a real location in the Philippines that has a historical significance. Dre’s character theme was also made available as a selectable battle background music.
“We are very much excited for Dre to become a playable character,” says Ben Banta, CEO of Ranida Games. “He is our very first character outside of our Early Access launch and we made sure to use everything we’ve learned from all the feedback we’ve gotten. We’ve got a lot of input, suggestions, and criticisms from the community and we are using all of those to improve the game even more,” he added. Aside from the new playable character and stage, a lot of gameplay updates and improvements were also implemented.
Bayani will be an official side tournament of REV Major 2019, the premier fighting game tournament to be held at The Tent, Solaire Resorts & Casino in Parañaque City this September 28-29, 2019. It also marks the first official Bayani tournament where guaranteed prize pool will be given for the top 3 winners. Ranida Games is also an official exhibitor at the upcoming Electronic Sports and Gaming Summit (ESGS) 2019 to be held on October 25-27 at the SMX Convention Center, Pasay City where another Bayani tournament will be held.
