Cells at Work! is a popular comedy manga series by Akane Shimizu that’s announced to be getting a live-action film adaptation featuring an original story. It will be directed by Japanese Academy Award-winning director Hideki Takeuchi who has worked on the movie Tonde Saitama while the script will be handled by Yūichi Tokunaga, who worked on the live-action adaptation of Kaguya-sama: Love is War.
Expressing his excitement for the upcoming live-action adaptation, Director Hideki Takeuchi shared that the idea of bringing the story of cells to life on screen was, at first, surprising, but it also filled him with anticipation.
As of the moment, the cast of the film has yet to be revealed but more details will be revealed at a later date.
Cells At Work! is a unique take on how various cells work inside the human body. Different cells are personified as unique characters wherein their daily lives are showcased like how they work together to keep the body healthy and fight against enemies, or in this matter, diseases.

From March 2015 to January 2021, the manga was serialized in Kōdansha’s shōnen manga magazine Monthly Shōnen Sirius. The manga was then adapted to anime by David Production. It premiered on July 8 then it was followed by a second season that premiered in January 2021. Aside from that, the manga was even published in English by Kodansha Comics USA from November 2016 to August 2021.

The story takes place inside the human body, where trillions of anthropomorphic cells each do their job to keep the body healthy. The series largely focuses on two such cells; a rookie red blood cell, AE3803, who often gets lost during deliveries, and a relentless white blood cell, U-1146, who fights against any germs that invade the body.
