Confirmed Global Closed Beta for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis Announced

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis will have its global closed beta test hosted by Sega, however, dates aren't announced yet. Meanwhile in Japan, a second closed beta test for Phantasy Star Online PC version, which 50,000 players have participated in, happened last weekend.

These closed beta tests for Phantasy Star Online PC were declared as part of an introduction for the game. Sega showed some new gameplay from the Japanese beta tests which was hosted by Yuki Iwai and Mizuho Habu with Sega's Hiro Arai. Below was the full presentation that is audio and text dubbed.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is a new free-to-play MMORPG as well as Phantasy Star Online 2. Both games will run alongside each other. Offering a brand new adventure for players, the game will take place "1,000 years later after the Oracle's battle". Players can switch between the two games with the core graphics of Phantasy Star Online 2, to be overhauled to work with the enhanced options of New Genesis. Note that there are certain limitations such as levels, experience, and skills of the character that cannot be transferred.

Currently planned to be released in 2021 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and Windows 10 in North America, and for PC and PS4 in Japan, Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is surely one of the new games that you could anticipate for its release. Additionally, Japan will receive cloud versions for Nintendo Switch and PC.
