Console Wars First Blood : Cyberpunk 2077 will follow through XBox Series X "Smart Delivery"

The next generation of consoles are up and the battle will be fought again by the mainstays of the industry, Microsoft's XBox with their XBox Series X and Sony's Playstation with Playstation 5. While both have been concealing cards to up one's edge when the sales start. Microsoft seems to have struck first blood with their "Smart Delivery" System. This system provides you the convenience of buying the game only once and then you can play the best version either in Xbox One or Series X, allowing you to save up games that will let you transition to either next gen or current gen consoles. This will make the acquisition of the current gen games that will make the transition to Series X much easier. Truly, a good score for those who those who own One and plan to buy Series X down the line. And this is where we will talk about our topic, CD Projekt Red and their plans with Cyberpunk 2077.

Microsoft recently announced that they will open Smart Delivery with third party games after they have said that they will implement said system to their first party games, making it a sweet deal to those who already purchased their games with their own console. Only buying the console to enjoy the games you own, as long as it's done by Microsoft. Now that the feature is opened to CD Projekt Red, they have took the opportunity to use it and make their upcoming game, Cyperpunk 2077 to use Smart Delivery too. This will open the game to be played in either current gen or next gen graphics without the need to purchasing the game twice just to play it on the next gen console. Here's what the official Cyberpunk 2077 twitter, tweeted regarding their decision:

This decision has been viewed upon by console users as positive light and sees this aspect of CDPR as very consumer-friendly, because unlike other games, you can play the game in the same console, as long as you have it on the previous one. With Microsoft's move, they have gained admiration for the gamers and now it is Sony's move to see if they can one-up their competition. But with the promise of backwards compatibility of Sony, maybe they might have something more in their sleeve. Still, kudos to CDPR for a job well done for using a pro-consumer tactic to gain admiration of all players.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an anticipated game that will be on the PC, XBox One and Series X, Playstation 4 and Stadia, releasing on September 17, 2020 due to their delay of the initial release date of April 16, 2020. With the creators of the popular game and series, Witcher 3, people are hyped for another complete experience from this game as well.
