Converge FiberXers' 747 Dota team reigned as the PBA Esports Bakbakan Dota 2 Champion

The Converge FiberXers’ 747 Dota team emerged victorious over Barangay Ginebra’s Manta Esports during the finale of the PBA Esports Bakbakan DOTA 2 tournament, taking home the biggest share of the prize pool and the championship title.

The season proper for Esports Bakbakan Dota 2 begins for the 12 teams that made it out of the 163 who participated during the qualifying round in November. The 12 teams were composed of Blackwater Bossing Smooth Razor (Showbox), NLEX Road Warriors (Team G), Terrafirma Dyip (Noir), Meralco Bolts (Midnight Lambingan), San Miguel Beermen (Ragtag), Rain or Shine Elasto Painters (Team Bislog), Phoenix Super LPG (Sharks), NorthPort Batang Pier (Alagad ni Balong), Magnolia Hotshots (Team FX), TnT Tropang Giga (D-Roar Seed), Converge FiberXers (747 Dota), and Barangay Ginebra (Manta Esports).

The 12 competing teams that survived single eliminations in the qualifiers proceeded to double eliminations in the season proper, which resulted in Manta Esports and 747 Dota, paired with D-Roar Seed and Sharks, respectively, battling it out in the best-of-three semifinals.

As the BO3 semifinals concluded, Converge’s 747 Dota and Barangay Ginebra’s Manta Esports made it to the finals, where 747 Dota beat Manta Esports in the grueling best-of-five final competition, scoring 3-2 and making Manta Esports the first runner-up.

The team 747 Dota, which consists of Marvin "Boomy" Rushton, Muhammad "InYourdreaM" Anugrah, Daud "Db-" Budiawan, Karl "Karl" Baldovino, and Jaunuel "Jaunuel" Arcilla, will be taking home the 150, 000 PhP top prize.

Meanwhile, the first-place team, Manta Esports, composed of Carl "Dric" Ricafrente, Edjee "Blu" Icot, Jayquem "Kimizu" Gumalan, Dexmhalon "Gohan" Dignadice, Mohammed "Kuch" Almusally, and James "Jameslord" Garcia, received 70, 000 PHP.
