After taking a break back in 2020, Malaysia-based Dota 2 team Geek Fam have returned to the Dota 2 professional scene by announcing their new roster for the upcoming DPC season. In case you don’t know, there were three Filipino talents that were part of the team’s former roster, which are Carlo “Kuku” Palad, Marc “Raven” Fausto, and Karl Matthew Baldovino.
The following are the new Geek Fam roster:
Due to the suspension of the Dota Pro Circuit because of the pandemic, the team had to be disbanded back in mid-2020. The former team was led by Kuku and before disbanding, they won the first-place in the ONE Esports Dota 2 League 2020 and secured a 7-8th place finish in the ESL One Thailand 2020.
But even though the Dota Pro Circuit league reopened in 2021, the organization was still in hiatus because they were not able to sign any players that could keep up with the other teams in the tournament.
The current Geek Fam roster has a total of three Filipinos as its players. First is Skem who used to play as support for the Indonesian team BOOM Esports. While Force is a former player of Polaris Esports, who recently won a championship title. Lastly, Kokz is the youngest, who used to play for the Filipino team Neon Esports as the midlaner.
