For anyone who's been searching for the latest, and if not the best, Civilization game on Android platform, the long wait is over! Aspyr finally announced the long awaited Civilization VI for Android last week. Here's the official launch trailer:
When Civilization VI was released 3 years ago on iOS, it was a disappointing moment for the Android community. But the search is over and Aspyr made sure that the wait is worth it. But, as always, 2K games doesn't come for free.
If you've seen the initial poster for the Android promotion, it actually says "Try For Free". It's not exactly a lie, but it's effective to catch your attention. So, here's how it really goes:
If you head out to Google Play Store, you'll notice that it's free to download. It's not a scam, and you can actually open the app after installing it. You'll be able to play the game for free for 60 turns ONLY. After that, you'll have to face the payment wall.
The 60-turn trial is a way for Android users to recheck whether it's truly worth to pay or not. It's a good strategy compared to buying the game directly from Play Store and regret it afterwards. And as you can see, the expansions and scenario packs are also included as part of the in-game purchases.
The gameplay didn't change and it's now the first real deal Android version of Sid Meier's Civlization game. Prepare to expand and make decisions for your nation as you progress through ages with your technology and research. Compete against other leaders thru diplomacy or war.
With the turn-based mechanics of the game and the amount of things you can explore, you'll be able to enjoy burning long time in the game. The different combinations of research and the return of Great People can make you want to play the game over and over again to experience everything. Let's not forget the additional gameplay that the expansions include.
After playing the 60-turn trial, you can now decide if you want to purchase the full game for $19.99 USD. The Rise and Fall ($29.9 USD) and Gathering Storm ($39.99 USD) expansions, including the Civilization and Scenario packs (ranging from $4.99 to $8.99), can also be bought afterwards.
For those who already played in on other ports, specially on PC, the prices aren't unreasonable. The tons of fun and exploration you can do is worth it. Maybe, for some critique, they have a different taste of what's good and what's not. But, as for me, this is definitely a good deal. You might be interested already so I'm providing the link for the Google Play Store for Android, and the App Store for iOS as well.
It did take too long before Android received its port. Did you also wait for this? What do you think of this game? Tell us your thoughts below.
I'm a fan of Civ games and I've been searching for the perfect mobile version of it. To be honest, even with the existence of Civilization Revolution 2, I found it quiet plain and lacking compared to the original gameplay of PC versions. Nevertheless, it was a well spent PHP 255 to experience Civ on mobile.“For those who love strategy games, Sid Meier’s Civilization VI is a die-hard, must-play classic that until now, wasn’t an option for Android users. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce that this epic world is now available for Android gamers to enjoy for the first time ever”, says Elizabeth Howard, Vice President of Publishing at Aspyr.
