Laverez had previously not been able to compete in several Tekken tournaments abroad due to his denied travel visas. He fortunately acquired his US visa last year and competed in the Tekken World Tour 2023 Last Chance Qualifiers.

AK defeated the reigning Tekken World Tour champion and a four-time EVO (Evolution Championship Series) champion, Arslan Ash, in a thrilling grand finals match and scored 3-2 in favor of him, earning his first ever US Tekken tournament championship after being unable to compete abroad multiple times.

Before going to the finals of Combo Breaker, AK had an impressive run and was still undefeated after taking down his main rivals, South Korea’s Jeong “Rangchu” Hyeon-ho in the top 8 bracket and Pakistan’s Muhammad “Farzeen” Farzeen.

Aside from the championship trophy, AK also took home the biggest share of the tournament’s $22, 000 prize pool valued at $9,300 (around 69, 000 PHP) and secured 560 circuit points for the Tekken World Tour 2024, securing the third spot with a total of 860 points.
