Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade Details and Interview Summary

In an interview with Famitsu, Square Enix's Creative Director Tetsuya Nomura, revealed several details regarding the Final Fantasy VII universe.

To start off, Nomura discusses first the Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade that has a new Yuffie-focused chapter added and also the new character that is Sonon Kusakabe. The details are as follows:
  • Sonon is a non-playable character and will act on his own. However, he can do combination attacks with Yuffie using the L2 button.

  • Sonon is from Wutai and is working with Avalanche, which explains his military-style appearance. Sonon will use martial arts and quarterstaff to differentiate from Yuffie. This also is the reason behind his outfit design.

  • Admittedly, Nomura said he was first designed with finer features for a softer 'pretty boy' look but was changed to a more masculine character to add a new dynamic alongside Yuffie.
  • Originally, it was intended to have a PS5 version not a DLC. However, due to the nature of the upgrade, the Yuffie section was labeled as DLC. Though players should not expect for more DLC of the game because the development will now instead focus on the upcoming sequel. “Sorting out the development environment on PS5 for Intergrade meant that moving on to developing the sequel was much smoother. We are now prioritizing the roadmap for completing the next game, so if we do need to think about more DLC then it will probably come after that is finished,” Nomura says.
  • As Nomura said in the interview that he enjoys watching FF7 Remake stream gameplay commentary, Square Enix will ease the streaming restrictions of FF7 Remake as it releases on June 10th.
  • It was also confirmed that on the Yuffie episode, there will be new material and summons.

This has been the details for Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade. But stay tuned because the next will be Final Fantasy VII: First Soldier.
