This error was mainly due to network issues that prevent the game from connecting through the servers. Even though players are connected through WiFi or mobile data, they will still experience this error. This especially happens after a major patch update. But rest assured that this is an easy fix, you can simply force the game to quit in the phone’s setting.

Don’t worry, here is the step-by-step guide on how to fix the “Download Configuration Failed Error”.

Solution 1: Changing your phone’s DNS server
  1. Access your device’s Wi-Fi settings.
  2. Change your network settings and access your DNS settings.
  3. Change your DNS to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4
  4. For Android 9 or later, add private DNS and set the hostname to “dns.google”. Manually configuring your DNS may help resolve the issue.
If this didn’t work out, below is the other solution.

Solution 2: Forcing the game to close
  1. Access your phone’s settings.
  2. Navigate to Apps & Notifications and tap “Apps”.
  3. Find and tap COD Mobile in the application list.
  4. Tap Force Close to end game processes. Force close the game to make sure all processes will end.
  5. Click on the “Data Usage” option in the menu. Activate everything in the settings.
  6. Make sure that mobile data, WiFi, background data and roaming data are turned on.
  7. Relaunch the game and check if the problem has been resolved.
