Greetings to all Summoners! Riot Games welcomes you all to Patch 2.3!

lolwr.jpg

League of Legends: Wild Rift introduces its latest update Patch 2.3, and with comes a ton of new content. As initially revealed in an episode of Riot's Dev Diary, Patch 2.3 will feature four new champions, new features, new skins, events, rune changes, and some nerfs and buffs to selected champions and items as well. A ranked season 3 reward also awaits players who reached Gold Rank 4 and above. With that being said, let's take a closer look at the game's newest additions and changes.

New Champions

One of the highlights of this patch update is the arrival of four new champions: Riven, Irelia, Lucian, and Senna. These champions may be familiar to some League of Legends PC players and will prove that some of them are mechanically difficult to use. Riven and Irelia will be released on June 3 at 0:01 UTC, while Lucian and Senna will arrive later in the patch.

Riven, the Exile

wrc1.jpg

Riven is a fighter champion with a lot of play ability and a lot of versatility. Her abilities "Broken Wings" and "Valor" enable her to reposition herself between battles, while "Ki Burst" temporarily stuns enemies.

Irelia, the Blade Dancer

wrc2.jpg

Irelia is one of the champions in the game with the best versatility and 1v5 potential. Her powers allow her to zone out opponents, making it just about difficult for them to flee. Her mechanics are complex, so it'll be fascinating to see how the developers make her interesting to play in Wild Rift.

Lucian, the Purifier

wrc3.jpg

Lucian is a marksman with dash attacks and endless chase skill. Through his abilities, he can mark enemies and earn bonus movement speed if he strikes them

Senna, the Redemeer

wrc4.jpg

Senna is the only one of the four champions on the list that is truly original. She is a support marksman who heals allies while attacking opponents. Instead of last-hitting creeps for cash, she will actually gather souls that drop automatically as someone dies, gaining gold and extra range based on how many souls she collects.

New Features

Close Friends

To players with a lot of friends, but have a special connection to a few of them, the addition of Close Friends feature is for you. This new feature lets users separate their closest friends from the others and allow them to participate in challenges alongside the player. This new system also allows users to invite up to 20 friends to be a close friend through one of the four titles:
  • Perfect Partner
  • The Might of Family
  • Inseparable Allies
  • Best Buddies
wr1.jpg

You may boost your friendship level up to four levels by playing together and giving each other after your buddy accepts your request to become a close friend. While playing Wild Rift, you may also go through a chronology of your shared memories. Shared champion pools, online alerts, friend status streaks, and showing off your status to other players are some of the additional benefits of enhanced friendships.

Friend Subscription

This new feature will allow users to subscribe to any three friends from their list to be notified when they perform different activities like come online or finish a match. The selected three will also show up on the top of friends list.

All Random All Mid (ARAM) Returns

Due to positive feedback, the hugely popular ARAM mode will be returning earlier than originally planned for a second round of testing for a limited time. It will be available from June to July so wrap up warm, it’s time for another go around on the Howling Abyss!

Champ Select

In ranked modes champion select, players may now change their draft order. Those seeking comfort picks or counter-picking their opponents will benefit from this.

Network Tools

Players may now check out their connection strength before beginning the game due to an icon in the upper right corner of the home screen. Players may now conduct a diagnostic test on their last game to see if any network problems were present.

4G Wifi

Riot has enabled 4G/WiFi functionality so that players may enjoy the highest connection strength possible, but be aware that you will be using your phone's data when on 4G.

New Skins

wr3.jpg

Icons: Maidens of the Blade, Fury of the Blade
Recalls: Toppling Tufts

These accessories can be earned or purchased from different sources. Players can check out the relevant page in game for more information on how to get them. All skins and accessories will be released throughout the patch. Future 2.3 skins will be released in subsequent patches.

New Event

Broken Blades

wr.jpg

With the release of Wild Rift Patch 2.3, a new event dubbed "Broken Blades" is introduced. Irelia and Riven, two new champions, will be featured in this event. Players will be able to pick between the two champions and accomplish quests in order to unlock the champion of their choice for free, along with bonus in-game goodies. The Broken Blades event begins June 3 at 1:01 UTC.

Rune Changes and Balances

Runes have been changed in Patch 2.3 to allow for more diversified pre-game decision making. Some will be changed, while those left in the game will be balanced out. Instead of employing the same rune arrangement for every champion, the new rune system aims to offer variety to every battle and make each rune usable with obvious strengths and weaknesses. The effects will be considerably easier to grasp and less difficult in the future update, making it easier for new players to set up their rune configuration. A more detailed rundown of the following rune changes is available here.

Champion Changes

Akali

wrakali.jpg

While Akali is dominant early in the game, the Riot team has observed that her difficulty to play might cause her to fall off later. To compensate, Akali's base health has been reduced, but her Five-Point Strike damage has been significantly enhanced.

Base Stats

  • Base HP: 650 to 570
  • HP per Level: 115 to 125
  • Total HP at level 15: 2260 to 2320

wrblitz.jpg

Blitzcrank has been sluggish lately, so this change will help him run more smoothly while not overclocking him.

Mana Barrier

  • Cooldown: 80s to 50s

Overdrive

  • Cooldown: 15s to 12s

Camille

wrcamille.jpg

Camile is a challenging champion to play in Wild Rift, so the balance team has adjusted her Hookshot ability target barriers to make things a little simpler.

Hookshot

  • Tap cast now detects terrain in front of Camille and fires towards it
  • Tap cast will not cast if there is no terrain in front of Camille

Darius

wrdarius.jpg

In the early game , Darius has been slicing through adversaries much too effortlessly. To ensure he doesn't get carried away too quickly, we're removing the Attack Damage he earns with full stacks of his Noxian Might (passive) during his first few levels.

Noxian Might

  • Attack Damage gained at Full Stacks: 29/43/57/71/85/99/113/127/141/155/169/183/197/211/225 to 22/30/38/46/58/70/82/94/112/130/148/166/186/206/226

  • AP ratio: 0.6 to 0.5

Moonfall

  • Minimum Base Damage: 175/225/275 to 150/200/250
  • Maximum Base Damage: 350/450/550 to 300/400/500

Fizz

wrfizz.jpg

The Tidal Trickster doesn't want to be confined to just one swim lane, so we've given him a little boost to make him more jungle-friendly, allowing him to play a wider range of roles. Fizz's Playful/Trickster (3) is now more rewarding when used correctly and less punishing when used incorrectly.

Seastone Trident

  • Passive Damage Over Time now deals 200% damage to neutral monsters

Playful / Trickster

  • Mana: 95/100/105/110 to 85/90/95/100

  • Base Damage: 70/140/210/280 to 85/150/215/280

  • Armor Growth: 6.4 → 5.8

Demacian Justice

  • Cooldown: 65/60/55s → 80/70/60s

Gragas

wrgragas.jpg

Gragas' drinking has becoming an issue. He's taking too much punishment while dealing out far too much himself. These modifications should help the Rabble Rouser calm down and become more rational.

Drunken Rage

  • Base Damage Reduction: 10/13/16/19% to 8/11/14/17%
  • Target’s Maximum HP Damage: 8% to 7%

Electrical Surge

  • Cooldown: 15/12/9/6s → 12/10/8/6s

Kha'Zix

wrk6.jpg

The Void Reaver has a unique mechanic that we believe needs some tweaking to match the faster pace and smaller map of Wild Rift. We're making it simpler for targets to be separated so Kha'Zix may indulge in his predatory fantasies on a more regular basis.

Unseen Threat

  • Isolation Radius: 400 to 300

Pantheon

wrpanth.jpg

Grand Starfall, Pantheon's ultimate ability, is getting an upgrade to make it more resemble its PC version.

Grand Starfall

  • Armor Penetration: 10/15/20%

Rakan

wrrakan.jpg

Rakan is underperforming in comparison to his peers, therefore we've increased his base stats and reduced his shield cooldown. This should make it easier for the Charmer to dance his way into combat later on in the game.

Defensive Ball Curl

  • Spiked Shell base damage: 5/10/15/20 to 8/10/12/14

Renekton

wrrenek.jpg

Base Stats

  • Base AD: 64 to 70

Cull the Meek

  • On-Hit Heal: 4/6/8/10 to 6/9/12/15

  • Active Bonus Attack Speed: 55/70/85/100% to 40/50/60/70%

Wukong

wrwuks.jpg

Wukong was fidgeting too much in lane and underperforming. We're giving him a boost in laning strength to encourage him to go outside of his jungle. Also, his Golden Staff (1) will have a refund mechanic added to it, requiring the Monkey King to stay on targets longer rather than trying to blow them up instantaneously.

Golden Staff

  • Cooldown: 8/7/6/5s to 8/7.5/7/6.5s
  • [NEW] Now heals for 10% Bonus HP
  • Attacks from Wukong and his clone now reduce Golden Staff’s cooldown by 0.5 seconds

And although ranked season 3 has yet to start, a new skin reward named “Glorious Lulu” will be given as a ranked season 3 reward for players who reach Gold Rank 4 and above.
