MiHoYo's New Game, Honkai: Star Rail, Gets Gameplay and Several Game Contents Leaked

It was revealed yesterday that Honkai: Star Rail, the long-rumored new mobile game from Honkai Impact creators miHoYo, had been leaked in a major way, giving the internet community their first look at the previously-undisclosed title.

MiHoYo, the developers of the hit games Genshin Impact and Honkai Impact, had a successful year in 2018, with Genshin becoming the fastest game to reach the $1 billion mark on both the Google Play and Apple App Stores. This year, the Chinese company also released a new video game titled Tears of Themis, which was released worldwide. As a result of the registration of a new trademark by miHoYo in Japan, it has now been revealed that Honkai: Star Rail will be a new game currently under development. On BiliBili, there is also an account with the name Honkai: Star Rail, which provides further evidence that the game is currently in development.

However, on September 22, 2021, the game client was accidentally made available to the public before being taken down. Despite the fact that the client was only available on the App Store for a brief period of time, the community was quick to download and datamine it, resulting in the discovery of a wealth of new information about the upcoming title.

The format of the Honkai: Star Rail leak was perhaps the most significant revelation to come out of it. Instead of being an action RPG like Honkai Impact 3rd or Genshin Impact, Honkai: Star Rail appears to be a turn-based RPG set in an open world environment. Enemies are marked with element symbols above their heads, indicating that combat will be focused on countering different types, which is closely similar to Pokemon games.

It was also revealed that several characters will be returning from Honkai Impact 3rd, and among them are a few who will be making a comeback from Honkai Impact 3. There have also been leaks indicating that a second game in the Honkai series, titled Honkai: Galaxy, is currently in development, as Weibo accounts for both of the games have been discovered.

Star Rail appears to be similar to both Genshin and Honkai Impact in that you'll be traveling with a party of three people, and the game will be primarily focused on acquiring new party members. It also appears to be following the miHoYo trend of reusing characters, with many familiar faces appearing in the game, including characters who appear to be based on Murata Himeko and characters who appear to be based on Seele.

MiHoYo has not responded to the leaks, neither confirming nor disputing their veracity. Although the game is still in its early stages of development, the gameplay may undergo changes. It is best to wait for official announcements from the company in order to obtain all of the necessary information about the game.
