Latest Adjustments

Patch 1.5.52

Her sustainability in the early and late game has been increased.

Skill 1(↑): Base HP Regen: 50-150 → 75-150
Magic Power Bonus: 25% → 35%

Skills Analysis

Passive: Vampire Pact

Carmilla steals 6.4-12 Physical & Magic Defense(scales with level) from the enemies while dealing damage to them. Each target can be stolen only once in 5 seconds. The stolen Physical & Magic Defense can be stacked up to 5 times within 5 seconds.

Her passive already shows that she is a support. Stealing enemy defenses can help the whole team to deal larger amount of damage.

This also makes her tanky. At max stacks and level, her passive grants her 60 Hybrid Defense. She can reduce around 33% of the enemy's damage.

Skill 1: Crimson Flower
CD: 9s
Mana Cost: 50 / 58 / 66 / 74 / 82 / 90

Carmilla summons 2 Crimson Flowers to spin around herself for 5 seconds. Enemies hit by the Crimson Flowers will receive 100 / 120 / 140 / 160 / 180 / 200 (+50% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and be slowed down by 10%. Meanwhile, the spinning speed of the Crimson Flowers will be increased for 0.8 second.

Each time the Crimson Flowers deal damage to enemies, Carmilla will restore 75-150 (+35% Total Magic Power) HP.

If the target is a minion, Carmilla only restores 30% of the amount only.

This skill makes her lasts long in the middle of teamfights. She can also zone out anyone early game especially when she both got skill 1 and skill 2.

The fact that she restores HP when using this skill means the enemy can counter with Necklace of Durance or Sea Halberd.

The HP Regen increases as your Magic Power Increases.

This skill has 25% movement speed boosts originally but removed since it makes her OP with both skill 1 and skill 2 boosting movement speed.

Skill 2: Bloodbath
  • Cooldown: 12.0 / 11.2 / 10.4 / 9.6 / 8.8 / 8.0
  • Mana Cost: 85 / 100 / 115 / 130 / 145 / 160
Carmilla accumulates Bloodbath Energy, greatly increasing her Movement Speed by 70%.

Use Again: Carmilla casts Bloodbath Energy to a designated enemy, dealing 150 /180 / 210 / 240 / 270 / 300(+120% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and stunning the enemy for 0.6 second. The damage and the stunning time scale with the Bloodbath Energy accumulation, capped at 100%.

  • The movement speed buff will rapidly decay in 4.5 seconds.
  • This skill can only stun enemy heroes or creeps.
  • This is her main mobility skill. This also provides a single-target stun.
Ultimate Skill: Curse of Blood
  • Cooldown: 40.0 / 35.0 / 30.0
  • Mana Cost: 150 / 175 / 200
Carmilla casts Curse of Blood in a designated direction. The curse will spread out from the enemy hit to 2 other nearby enemy heroes, dealing 275 / 400 / 525 (+160% Total Magic Power) Magic Damage and slowing them down by 80% for 5 seconds.

The curse can be inflicted to up to 3 targets at the same time.
As long as one target with theCurse of Blood is damaged or controlled, the other influenced targets will also receive damage and crowd control effects.

The slow effect will decay to 30% in 3 seconds.

To other linked targets, the damage dealt to them decreases to 70% and the crowd control duration decreases to 50%.

This can be more utilized by squads than unreliable solo queue teammates. Though, the slow debuff and link is already helpful so duo can maximize this as long as your carry hero is good.

Special Skill:

If Cecilion and Carmilla are in a team and they are close to each other, Cecilion can use "Moonlit Waltz" to transform Carmilla into a Vermeil Shadow attaching to him. Carmilla can use any one of her skills to land on the battlefield, providing shield for self, refreshing the CD of non-Ultimate skills, dealing damage to enemies and slowing them.

Now if Carmilla and Cecilion are in the same team, Carmilla can purchase the new equipment item "Broken Heart" from the Shop. If Carmilla owns this item, Cecilion can't use "Moonlit Waltz" during the match.

Preparation

Emblem

The following are recommended:

Tank Emblem can be good but it gives you lesser damage. You also don't need more defense stats because it will be inefficient except for the HP and HP Regen Stat.

Concussive Blast might be the best talent if you will try Tank Emblem. Give 3 pts to HP and CDR

On the other hand, the Mage Emblem will provide you high offensive stats which also boosts your sustainability in teamfights both in terms of dealing and reducing damage. Impure Rage is a good talent if you will choose this emblem. Give 3 pts to Movement Speed and Magic Lifesteal.

Support Emblem might be the ideal because of the Pull Yourself Together talent. It will decrease your spawn time and battle spell cooldown especially if you want to spam your spell like Vengeance which is ideal to be available every teamfight. Give 3 pts to Movement Speed and Hybrid Regen.

Spells

Here are some good spells recommended for Carmilla

Flicker

She has skill 2 but it is not a blink skill. That is why flicker is not a bad choice.

Vengeance

If you are used to in tanking and knows well when to use this spell, this would be very useful especially against for the likes of marksman like Claude.

Revitalize

This is good to heal up your allies just like other supports.

Execute/Flameshot

This is good for Mage Type Carmilla. It also works with your ult.

Item Build Recommendation

Generally, don't go for full mage build since you cannot rely on triggering your passive and skill 1 all the time. It must be a combination of magic power, support, and defense items.
  • Tough Boots
  • Brute Force Chestplate
  • Concentrated Energy
  • Oracle
  • Dominance Ice
  • Winter Truncheon
Gameplay

Early Game

The laning depends on your role but whatever role it is, you have to be aggressive early game. You can zone out enemies so that they won't get last hit from your minions.

If you are paired by good hero, you can invade enemy jungle unless if there is a nearby enemy hero with hard CC Skill just like Franco's Skill 1.

Mid Game

Once you reached level 4, try to coordinate with your team to make plays. Gank sidelane and kill enemy core heroes who might be farming. Help your team to secure objectives like getting the turtle buff and pushing turrets.

Late Game

You cannot recklessly engage anymore since a fed Marksman can easily kill you by this time.

5v5 teamfights are now the best option you can go with. You want to wait for your Tank to engage and instantly follow up to make sure the enemies will be disabled longer.

You can still look for pick-offs especially in solo queue ranking since there are players who still roam solo.

Also just a general reminder, avoid dying in late game.

Other Tips
  1. Prioritize Skill 1 over Skill 2
  2. Her basic skill combo is 2nd skill then 1st skill. Use her ultimate skill in proper timing. It requires judgment, analysis, and team coordination.
  3. She is good against Karrie, Aurora, Atlas and Pharsa.
  4. She is weak against Wanwan, Masha, and Harith.
  5. She is compatible with Cecillion, Terizla, and Odette.
Carmilla might not be seen too much in ranked games especially in solo queue since she really is better paired with Cecillion to reach her max potential. But even without Cecillion, she is also good on her own.
