Just in time before the new Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) in every region will start for the second half of 2023, there was this Southeast Asia tournament called ESL Snapdragon Pro Series Season 3 SEA Challenge (ESL S3). This tournament also features some of the MPL teams all around Southeast Asia. It includes the current MSC 2023 Champions, ONIC Indonesia, which also just won the championship in ESL S3. They faced another MPL Indonesia team, Bigetron Alpha, in the Grand Finals, sweeping them 4-0.
The Grand Finals of ESL S3 happened on July 23, 2023, Sunday, at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia. On the way to the championship, ONIC Indonesia won versus Yoodo Red Giants (YRG), RSG PH, and AP Bren to secure the Grand Finals by not losing a series in the upper bracket. On the other hand, Bigetron Alpha went through Philippine teams to climb their way back after losing their first series for the playoffs versus the reigning World Champions, ECHO.
As the champion of this tournament, ONIC Esports received a trophy and the USD 65,000 prize. Bigetron Alpha finished second while Philippine teams AP Bren and ECHO were 3rd and 4th respectively. RSG PH and YRG are 5th-6th place. These six teams were put in a double elimination bracket for the playoffs of this tournament. ONIC Indonesia is looking to continue their championship streak as their regional MPL in Indonesia is about to start its 12th Season on July 27, 2023.
