Mages or spell-casters are an ability-reliant class of heroes in Mobile Legends. The main goal of a Mage in Mobile Legends is to deal as much burst damage as possible while staying out of harm’s way. But, of course, while the basics aren’t difficult, it can be hard to master playing the role of a Mage in Mobile Legends, especially if you’re new to the game.

Because of this, we have decided to round up tips and tricks to help you become a better Mage user in Mobile Legends in no time. If these don’t work, you could get some Mobile Legends Diamonds over at OffGamers right here to aid you in your battles.

Four Important Tips When Playing Mobile Legends

Some things are universal, regardless of whether you’re playing as a Mage in Mobile Legends or any other class.

Here are some tips to help you excel in Mobile Legends:
  1. Do not spam. Correctly timed and well-placed abilities can change the course of a clash if not an entire match. Always keep a level head when playing the game.
  2. Keep an eye out for the minimap. The more aware you are of your enemy’s movements, the better.
  3. Always be on the lookout for the next objective. Your goal in Mobile Legends isn’t to kill the entire enemy team, it’s to destroy their base. So, everytime you go for a kill, you should always try to see if you can convert it into a turret. If not, look for opportunities such as a lord, turtle, buffs, and gold crab, in this particular order.
  4. Do wear headphones. You can hear enemies using skills in Mobile Legends if you pay enough attention.

How To Play Mages Effectively in Mobile Legends

  1. Try not to worry too much if your team composition is not filled properly. This is out of your control. Instead, focus on how you can best help your team. The great thing about playing Mages in Mobile Legends is that they can switch between playing a Support or a Carry even after the draft. If your team composition lacks kill and damage potential, feel free to go Carry. But, if your team needs someone that can help secure objectives and win teamfights, go Support.
  • It’s best to play as a Carry in lower ranks. You’ll have minimal impact as a Support when playing with other beginners, especially since they can’t capitalize on the opportunities that you can make for them.

  1. Learn when your hero is the strongest. Most power spikes happen at level 4, but this doesn’t apply for all heroes. Sometimes, it can happen at level 3 or level 2 if not level 1. Other times, it won’t happen until level 6. A key item can also bring about a power spike, so pay attention to it.
  2. Try to pair up with someone else. This helps give you a wider margin for error and it won’t be as easy for your lane opponents to capitalize on your shortcomings.
  3. Do not auto-lock and auto-aim. Manually aiming your skills and spells is a crucial skill as a Mage in Mobile Legends.
  4. Your goal as a Mage is to put as much distance between you and your enemy as possible without compromising your damage output and utility. Pay attention to your positioning at all times. Always hide behind teammates or under a tower or even inside the grass to stay invisible.
  5. Your basic attack as a Mage is laughable. Retreat once your skills are on cooldown.
  6. Stick to one lane for the majority of the early game. Mages tend to move slowly, so transferring from one lane to another is a huge waste of time.
  7. Clear waves as often as you can without undermining the farm of your Carry.
  8. Your job isn’t to split push; Mages are too soft for that. Your best contribution to your team is to help clear waves, secure objectives, and help in team fights.
  9. Your primary focus in team fights is the enemy Marksmen. Tanks are literally built to soak up damage, but they don’t dish back as much as they can receive. It’s useless wasting your skills on them. Of course, if the opportunity to take out the enemy Mages presents itself, don’t hesitate to take it.
  10. Your greatest asset as a Mage is your crowd control. Most Mages in Mobile Legends have some form of spell that can lock enemies up when you catch them off guard.
  11. Just as you’ll target enemy Marksmen, so too will the opposing team. It’s your job to make sure that enemy heroes won’t be successful when they jump onto your Marksmen in fights by using your skills.

Should Mages Invade Jungles in Mobile Legends?

No, especially if you’re new to the game. Early on, your goal is to clear waves and get to level 4 as soon as you can. Even then, your focus should be on delaying the enemy farm by harassing your opponents in the lane and making life generally difficult for them. Invading the Jungle only pays off if you are using a Mage that can duel 1v1, and there’s not a lot of those.

Make Sure To Understand Your Role As A Mage

It’s impossible to overemphasize the importance of understanding your role in Mobile Legends. In particular, as a Mage, your role is to create pressure early in the game. Mages don’t scale as well, so your opportunity to make the most impact is early in the game. Mind you, this doesn’t mean that Mages are useless as the game drags on. As we’ve already mentioned, well-placed and well-timed spells can swing the momentum of the game.

At the end of the day, the best way to learn how to play a Mage in Mobile Legends is to keep on playing. The more time that you spend playing Mobile Legends, the better your understanding of the mechanics get.

Just make sure that you start with beginner-friendly Mages like Eudora, Gord, and Aurora. This way, you have more room to make mistakes and it’s harder to punish you whenever you’re out of position or do something wrong, which will happen more often than you’d like.
