In the current metagame of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, there is a great emphasis on the EXP lane because it is the side of the map where the Turtle objective is nearer in the early game. As the name implies, EXP lane gives more EXP to heroes via killing the minions as a bonus reward that translates to them being able to win the Turtle teamfight. That is why it is important nowadays to win the EXP lane match-up and thus, some heroes were very low in usage because they are outclasses by the current top heroes. In the patch note 1.7.66 advance server, the hero adjustment highlights are for the EXP lane heroes.
1. Esmeralda buff
The game designers/developers slightly increased Esmeralda's damage to make her more competitive compared to other EXP Laners.
[Basic Attack] (↑)
First Damage: 80% Physical Attack >> 90% Physical Attack
Second Damage: 100 +55% Magic Power >> 100 +65% Magic Power
[Skill 2] (↑)
Cooldown: 5.5-3.5s >> 4.5-3.5s
The patch note insight made it clear that the reason of the hero adjustment is for Esmeralda to be on par with the other EXP laners. Currently, she is lacking total damage output potential which makes her outclassed by other heroes despite her utility with her ultimate skill and innate tankiness. The cooldown of her skill 2 would remain the same at max level but it is now faster early game so that she can trade damage better versus opposing laners.
2. Freya optimization buff
Freya's gameplay is optimized. She can move through walls with Leap of Faith more easily and the third hit of Spirit Combo now has less foreswing time, but also shorter airborne duration. They've also adjusted Spirit Combo's growth rate to be more reasonable.
[Skill 1] (↑)
Moves through obstacles more easily.
[Skill 2] (↑)
Reduced the third hit's foreswing time.
Airborne Duration: 0.5s >> 0.4s
Base Damage: 50-100 (+50% Extra Physical Attack) >> 80-230 (+90% Extra Physical Attack)
Final Damage: 100-200 (+100% Extra Physical Attack) >> 121-276 (+108% Extra Physical Attack)
Shield: 100-150 (+409 Extra Physical Attack) >> 120-260 (+70% Extra Physical Attack)
In this update, the main focus is on her skill 2. These adjustments are overall buffs including the optimization on her skill 1. Less airborne duration but more damage and more shield. This should make Freya better overall and be on par with the other EXP laners in original server if ever all her adjustments in the test server will be applied in the next official update.
3. Paquito buff
They've slighty buffed Paquito's durability in the mid and late game to fit his role as a fighter.
[Skill 1] (↑)
Shield: 150-500 +110% Physical Attack >> 150-550 +120% Physical Attack
Paquito used to be a top EXP lane pick but recently has fallen off even without significant changes for quite a while. Thus, the buff to Paquito this time is just minimal since his damage still seem to be on par but he might just die quicker so they added the shield given by his skill 1. This should motivate players to experiment with him again in the current metagame.
4. Badang nerf
Badang has become too dominant in this version with the buff to Knockback effects. They've moderately reduced his damage in the early and mid game for balance.
[Skill 1] (↓)
Base Damage: 160-260 >> 140-240
Explosion Damage: 120-195 >> 110-185
[Ultimate] (↓)
Base Damage: 80-140 >> 70-130
Explosion Damage: 40-70 >> 35-65
This is just a reversion of his previous buffs in the advance server. There might be another test server adjustment to him before this might be release in the official server. The patch note explained that the adjustments is made to balance the previous buff on his knockback effects and his damage.
There is another advance server patch note expected to be release to finalize the adjustments made before the official update. The end season in the original server is also near that is why the EXP lane hero adjustments made in this patch might be the game's move to make a new metagame for the next season by highlighting the EXP lane match-ups. Moonton is also expected to announce information about the next global server update in their official social media platforms.
