A major update in the official server of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang has finally arrived this May 2023! After more than a month, the game made significant hero adjustments for its ranked midseason update. The aim this time is to balance out the gold earnings of Junglers and Gold Laners. Thus, the game wanted to improve Tank Junglers in the early game, and allow damage-build for Fighters and Assassins in the Jungle. Some less-picked tanks and fighters were also improved to give them a chance to shine in the current metagame. Here are all the major hero adjustments in Patch 1.7.82 Original Server.
1. Minotaur buff
Minotaur has learned to control his rage and unleash it at will during his Ultimate.
[Passive] (~)
Effect Revamp: Applying a control effect to an enemy with skills will reduce their Hybrid Defense and healing an ally with a skill will increase their Hybrid Defense for 2s. These effects are doubled in Enraged State.
[Skill 1] (↓)
CD: 8-5.5s >> 12-9.5s
Removed the Attack Speed Reduction on enemies effect.
Duration of Enhanced Basic Attacks and Movement Speed Reduction on Enemies: 3s >> 2s
[Skill 2] (↑)
CD: 12-9.5s >> 10-7.5s
Removed the Attack Speed bonus effect.
[Ultimate] (↑)
Rage has been removed. Minotaur now enters the Enraged state immediately and starts smashing the ground upon using the Ultimate.
CD: 50-40s >> 60-50s
Cooldown starts after the Enraged state ends.
The game ease out Minotaur's mechanics. This is in exchange of longer cooldown for its ultimate skill. Its passive also received an effect revamp plus a buffed skill 2. It would take a while to see how these changes will impact the current metagame but based on tests in advance server, these make Minotaur more viable.
2. Hylos buff
While Hylos may have more legs than most heroes, he still lacks mobility. The game developers/designers improved his ability to give chase by making some adjustments to his Skill 1 and Ultimate, while slightly tuning down his damage and survivability. This should make him a better team player.
[Attributes] (↓)
Base HP: 2,909 >> 2,709
[Skill 1] (↑)
Skill Revamp: Hylos now gains 50% Movement Speed on skill use which decays over 3s. During this time, his Basic Attacks are enhanced and will stun the first enemy hit for 1s and knock them back slightly.
[Skill 2] (↓)
Base Damage: 100-300 >> 100-250
[Ultimate] (↑)
Slow Revamp: Using his Ultimate now immediately slows all enemies by 75% for 1 second. Afterwards, the field will continue to slow enemies within by 25%.
Hylos also received an effect revamp! Skill 1 is a nice buff so that it could utilize its crowd control better. To balance it out, his base HP and skill 2 were nerfed. The lesser 200 HP in early game seems huge and the nerf on skill 2 damage could only be felt starting level 2.
3. Alpha buff
Alpha is returning with a newly upgraded Beta!
[Passive]
Revamped Effect: Beta will lock on to an enemy after hitting them twice.Whenever Alpha attacks a target that Beta as locked on to, Beta will follow up with anlaser attack that deals damage and briefly slows the target.
Beta's Laser Damage: 80 (+8 per level) (+100% Total Physical Attack) True Damage
[Skill 1] (↑)
Greatly reduced the time it takes for Beta to attack.
Base Damage: 200-300 (+90% Extra Physical Attack) >> 100-200 (+90% Extra Physical Attack)
Strafe Damage: 100-150 (+30% Extra Physical Attack) Physical Damage >> 60-120 (+30% Extra Physical Attack) True Damage
[Skill 2] (↑)
Strafe Damage: 125-175 (+30% Extra Physical Attack) Physical Damage >> 60-120 (+30% Extra Physical Attack) True Damage
[Ultimate] (↑)
Increased the speed of Alpha's leap.
Leap Damage: 50-100 (+20% Extra Physical Attack) >> 0
Landing Damage: 200-400 (+80% Extra Physical Attack) >> 250-500 (+100% Extra Physical Attack)
Beta's Damage: 25-35 (+60% Extra Physical Attack) Physical Damage >> 15-30 (+30% Extra Physical Attack) True Damage
Alpha's passive is revamped while all his active skills are buffed! The game might also want to not only improve Alpha as a laner but also potentially as a Jungler. Alpha is one of the fighter heroes that has a mechanic to be the main team carry and these adjustments should help more players to notice this old hero.
4. Bane buff
Bane's skill kit is more tailored toward a defensive counterattack style and he has a hard time breaching the enemy's formation, but his damage poses a greater threat to heroes with less HP. They hope the following adjustments will remedy this contradiction and boost his damage against front line heroes, and allow Bane to benefit more from a half offense, half defense build. They also made some adjustments to minimize the impact on pure damage builds.
[Passive] (↑)
Damage: 135%-170% Total Physical Attack >> 100% Total Physical Attack + 5% - 8% of target's Max HP (scales with level, and can deal up to 500 damage to Creeps)
[Skill 1] (~)
Bounce Damage: 150% at all levels >> 150%-200%
The projectile's damage no longer increases after eliminating a target.
CD: 6-4s >> 8-6s
Cooldown reduction for every 100 Physical Attack: 5% >> 8%
[Skill 2] (~)
Base HP Recovered: 200-300 >> 200 at all levels
Percentage of Lost HP Recovered: 6% + (2.5% Total Magic Power) >> 5-10% + (1.5% Total Magic Power)
These adjustments to Bane are interesting. Bane is now looking to be more of a high-ceiling, high-reward hero because proper itemization and playstyle would make him a top hero. The adjustments also still seem beginner-friendly as his passive still received an overall buff and the changes are more of on the playstyle than the hero mechanics.
5. Silvanna buff
Silvanna can now use Flicker with her Ultimate for surprise attacks. They've also improved Spiral Strangling's pull effect to make it harder for enemies affected by Imperial Justice to escape.
[Skill 2] (~)
Pull Direction: To the center >> To her lance
Slightly increased the pull effect.
[Ultimate] (↑)
New Effect: Silvanna can now use Flicker while leaping.
Silvanna can now use Ult-Flicker combo! These adjustments are more of to increase Silvanna's ceiling by improving her mechanics. The increased pull effect from her skill 2 also makes that skill more effective plus the pull direction changes makes her displacement capability more flexible too.
6. Gatotkaca buff
They've improved Gatotkaca's Enhanced Basic Attack by making it easier to hit enemies.
[Passive] (↑)
Slightly increased the cast range of his Enhanced Basic Attacks and they now allow him perform a short dash to the target.
Gatotkaca is also one of the lesser-used heroes nowadays. In theory, Gatotkaca seems balanced already so the game made a few adjustments but these are still significant in terms of its impact to him. His passive now makes his enhanced basic attack to proc better.
7. Valentina adjustments
Valentina's Ultimate can be extremely strong against certain heroes but weak against others, so they're balancing it a bit.
[Ultimate] (~)
Valentina's Ultimate cooldown will be 1.2x/1.1x/1x the starting cooldown of the Ultimate she steals (when her Ultimate is Lv.1/2/3). The cooldown cannot go below 10s.
This is an interesting adjustment to Valentina. This means opposing heroes with low cooldown on their ultimate skills can be better targets now. It is also nice that they added a restriction that the cooldown of her ultimate should always be at least 10 seconds at any point of the game. The mechanic of this skill with cooldown reduction stat is yet to be confirmed but this is definitely a great adjustment to her.
These are all the heroes that received major hero adjustments in this latest update. The update was released just in time for the big MLBB tournaments to end and when the one happened, players already explored the metagame and ready to show off what they learned. The next huge global server update might happen after MSC 2023 while the test server is still expected to receive adjustments every week.
