Mobile Legends Patch Notes 1.8.84 Advanced server featuring seven hero adjustments

The hero adjustments in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) game’s advanced server is starting to be minimal as it is now time to gradually stabilize the metagame after several huge updates. In the latest advanced server update, Patch Notes 1.8.84, there are seven heroes that received changes. The heroes that were adjusted are the following: Yi Sun-shin, Aulus, X.Borg, Atlas, Wanwan, Xavier, and Beatrix. Here are the adjustment details along with some of the insights written in the test server Patch Notes 1.8.84.

1. Yi Sun-shin Experimental Adjustments

The game hopes to solve Yi Sun-shin’s issues by reducing the damage of Yi Sun-shin's enhanced Basic Attacks from Passive in the mid to late game, while also giving him higher damage capabilities in the early game.

[Passive] (~)
First Enhanced Basic Attack Damage: 70%-100% Crit Damage (scales with Ult level) >> 80% Crit Damage at all levels
Second Enhanced Basic Attack Damage: 55%-70% Crit Damage (scales with Ult level) >> 60% Crit Damage at all levels

[Skill 1] (↑)
CD: 12-7s >> 12-9.5s

[Skill 2] (↑)
Slash & Arrow Damage: 240-340 + 80% of Total Physical Attack >> 300-425 +100% of Total Physical Attack

It was pointed out in the patch notes that despite Yi Sun-shin having good growth in mid to late game, his damage relies on enhanced Basic Attacks from Passive, leading to a lack of a safe damage-dealing environment. In order to win, players must get Gold quickly to gain an economic advantage when playing as Yi Sun-shin. In this case, most Yi Sun-shin players spend a lot of time on repetitive "Gold farming" throughout the match. Thus, the game reduced Yi Sun-shin’s mid to late game damage while buffing his early game potential.

2. Aulus nerf

After last week's adjustments, Aulus' strength has exceeded the game developers/designers expectations. Therefore, they are making further adjustments to him. They will continue to monitor Aulus' performance and ensure his strength remains at a reasonable level.

[Passive] (↓)
Attack Speed of Each Stack: 12%-18% >> 9%-15%

[Skill 1] (↓)
Damage Reduction: 50% at all levels >> 30%-50%

[Ultimate] (↓)
Basic Attacks' Physical Damage Increased from Blade Craft at Full Stack: 80 >> 50

These are just balancing adjustments for Aulus. When combined with the previous patch note in the test server, this is still a better version than the Aulus in the current official server. The complicated tweak in his mechanics might have made it hard to estimate the right amount of adjustments to Aulus’ abilities.

3. X.Borg nerf reversion

They noticed that the nerf to Spell Vamp Ratio had a significant impact on X.Borg, so they decided to revert to the previous nerf and continue to monitor his performance.

[Skill 1] (↑)
Spell Vamp Ratio: 50% >> 100%

[Ultimate] (↑)
Spell Vamp Ratio: 50% >> 100%

The game might approach X.Borg differently in the next update. It is clear that the current X.Borg isn’t as what the game intends it to be so expect further adjustments to this hero. The reason why they decided to adjust X.Borg in the first place is because of his great sustainability that makes him unbalanced. The game needs to balance his offensive potential and his sustainability so that this hero won’t heavily sway the metagame to its direction.

4. Atlas buff

Currently, Atlas' early game power is relatively weak, and he relies heavily on the mobility provided by Skill 2. They hope to see him get picked more often in high-rank matches, so they have strengthened his early game power.

[Passive] (↑)
Increased Physical & Magic Defense During Frigid Breath: 11-25 >> 16-30

[Skill 2] (↑)
Cooldown: 15-10s >> 12-10s

Atlas is another hero that has become unpopular after the surge of tank junglers and setter tanks like Atlas also needs to contend for a slot with the support heroes like healers. As a roamer, he relies too much on his skill 2 to roam which also leaves him with only two skills available once he gets into a teamfight. Thus, they decided to reduce the cooldown of his skill 2 and made him tankier in the early game.

5. Wanwan buff

Due to Wanwan's unique "move after each attack" mechanic, her sustained damage is weaker than most Marksmen. The game has increased her Attack Speed to compensate for this.

[Attributes] (↑)
Basic Attack Speed: 0.98 >> 1.13
Attack Speed Growth: 1% >> 2%

After the game repeatedly nerfed Wanwan when she was an auto-banned hero, her usage even in Ranked games has also fallen. Thus, the game wants to retain the mechanic adjustments they made before and just focus on increasing her attributes to make her viable again. The game compared her with other Marksman heroes and made her sustained damage be on par with them.

6. Xavier nerf

Reverted some previous adjustments.

[Passive] (↓)
Skill Cooldown reduced for Ultimate by Stage III: 32s >> 36s

[Ultimate] (↓)
Cooldown: 52-48s >> 60-52s
Damage: 600-1200 +200% of Total Magic Power >> 600-1100 +180% of Total Magic Power

It seems the cooldown buff applied on Xavier previously made him overpowered and thus, they reverted some adjustments. His passive and ultimate skill were adjusted, making the latter have a base cooldown of one minute at level 1. Even the damage of his ultimate is also nerfed as this makes his damage potential overpowered and over the course of the whole game, his total damage dealt is in overpowered territory relative to others based on his performance in the test server.

7. Beatrix buff

Slightly increased her damage in the late game.

[Attributes] (↑)
Physical Attack Growth: 9.5 >> 11

This Beatrix buff is just short and that wraps up the hero adjustments in the latest test server update released last May 16, 2024. To summarize, Beatrix is buffed along with another marksman hero, Wanwan, then Atlas and X.Borg also received buffs. Aulus and Xavier received adjustment reversion and lastly, Yi Sun-shin received multiple experimental adjustments.
