Mobile Legends Patch Notes 1.8.86 Advanced Server Hero Adjustments to Chou and some mage heroes

There are many professional tournaments of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) game that have been happening recently. Thus, the game can collect better data on how they should balance the game to optimize it. The game’s test server just updated this May 23, 2024 via Patch Notes 1.8.86 Advanced Server. Written in the patch notes are some significant hero adjustments to the Fighter hero, Chou, and some mage heroes. Here are the details on these significant hero changes in the latest update patch notes 1.8.86 Advanced server.

1. Chou buff

Now, Chou has gradually lost the ability to directly clash with other Fighters in the Exp Lane and can only seek opportunities to kick enemies into the Turret to gain an advantage. The game hopes the following adjustments can address this issue.

[Passive] (↑)
Distance Movement Required to Enhance Basic Attack: 10 >> 5
New Effect: Enhanced Basic Attack can reduce enemy's defense by 15 for 3s up to 2 stacks.

[Skill 2] (↓)
Removed the effect of increasing Physical Penetration on himself.

[Ultimate] (↓)
Max Knockback Distance of the First Stage: 5 >> 4

It’s been a while since Chou received adjustments. He also has seen lesser usage than last year in professional tournaments. An issue is that he can’t go toe to toe with the current meta EXP lane heroes and thus, the game decided to adjust his passive skill. It now has a new effect where his enhanced basic attack can reduce the enemy’s defense. To balance it out, the game also nerfed his skill 2 and ultimate skill.

2. Yve buff

Slightly increased Yve's damage in the late game and partially restored the previous nerfs to her slow ability, making her more competitive in the current version.

[Skill 1] (↑)
Damage Bonus: 140% Magic Power >> 150% Magic Power

[Skill 2] (↑)
Slow: 25%, up to 50% >> 30%, up to 60%

Yve’s usage also fell off by a lot in which she used to be a top mage in the metagame. It seems she has been overnerfed while other hero options have been buffed so she became inferior and now not on par with other midlaners. Thus, the game decided to buff her again by increasing her skill 1 damage bonus and slow effect of her skill 2.

3. Nana adjustments

The game developers/designers have optimized the trajectory logic of Nana's Skill 2, setting the travel time to 0.5 seconds (previously 0.2 seconds at melee range and nearly 1 second at maximum range). This change allows Skill 2 to be used as an initiating skill, rather than relying on the slow effect of her Ultimate. They increased the importance of Skill 2 in Nana's combo, while slightly reducing the damage of her Ultimate to prevent her from one-shotting enemies with her Ultimate alone.

[Skill 2] (↑)
Skill Foreswing Time: 0.2-1s >> 0.5s
Magic Defense Reduction of Transformed Enemies: 25% >> 25%-35%
Slow for Transformed Enemies: 30% >> 50%
New Effect: Removes Movement Speed boost on the target.

[Ultimate] (↓)
Slow Effect 50% >> 30%
Damage: 440-660 +160% of Total Magic Power >> 400-600 +140% of Total Magic Power

The game wants players to use Nana’s skill 2 as a way to initiate teamfights than her ultimate skill. They also made this adjustment in order to balance out their intended nerf on the damage of her ultimate skill. This way, Nana needs to combine skill 2 and ultimate skill in order to burst since before, her ultimate skill could burst many heroes in its area-of-effect which is deemed unbalanced as her skill 2 is also free to do others giving her so much utility in less resources.

4. Xavier nerf

With the new Temporal Reign emblem and Xavier's passive Temporal Overload, Xavier can cast skills at an extremely high frequency under the double Overload effect. They think this experience of unleashing unlimited firepower is good, but Xavier's damage needs to be slightly reduced accordingly.

[Skill 1] (↓)
Mana Cost: 70-120 >> 60-90
Damage Bonus: 130% of Total Magic Power >> 100% of Total Magic Power

The previous buffs on Xavier might have performed as intended and thus, it’s likely to be included in the upcoming global server update after minimal further rebalancing. In this update, they decided to nerf his skill 1 lowering the damage bonus he gets from his Total Magic Power stat. Xavier’s skill 1 is the only one that is adjusted in this update which is minimal but is still significant since this is rebalancing on his previous buffs on his passive skill.

5. Aurora buff

Aurora's overall damage is relatively weak compared to other Mages. They have decided to enhance her main damage skill.

[Skill 1] (↑)
Base Damage: 350-550 >> 400-700
Hailstone Damage: 40-60 >> 40

It seems the game overnerfed the revamped Aurora and thus, she has less usage in the professional tournaments again. It seems they are having a hard time to balance Aurora’s performance in ranked games relative to the professional scene. Thus, they buffed Aurora again but this time, it’s for her skill 1 which is intended to be her main damage skill.

6. Luo Yi nerf

Luo Yi's frequent use of her Ultimate makes it difficult for her opponents to predict her actions. Therefore, we have increased the cooldown on her Ultimate.

[Ultimate] (↓)
Cooldown: 50-40s >> 60s at all levels

Luo Yi has seen increased usage in the professional tournaments recently and her performance has been very consistent. Her ultimate skill is such a unique utility and thus, the game targeted this skill as she has been over-performing recently. They increased the base cooldown of her skill to 1 minute fixed at all levels.

These are the significant adjustments to Chou and some mage heroes in the latest advanced server update. There are also other notable adjustments in this update such as the revamped Phoveus and further rebalancing to Yi Sun-shin. Unlike the experimental adjustments, the ones written in here are likely to be included immediately in the next update of the original server. Currently, there are still ongoing MLBB professional tournaments until the first week of June 2024 so many things may still happen in the upcoming days.

Stay tuned for more news and updates!
