Mobile Legends Patch Notes 1.8.98 Advanced Server Hero Adjustments to Nolan, Ling, and Cici

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) game’s advanced server is still having regular updates while the game’s official international mid-year tournament, MSC 2024, is ongoing. The hero adjustments are minimal but the game is also looking to add more battlefield effects in the future. The latest adjustment in the test server is Patch Notes 1.8.98 Advanced Server. Written in this patch update are some hero adjustments to the heroes, Nolan, Ling, and Cici. Here are the details on these significant hero changes in the latest update along with some mentions of the other things written in the patch notes after the list of hero adjustments.

1. Nolan buff

The previous nerf to Nolan's mobility had a huge impact, but it's ideal for skill-casting frequency. In this patch, the game increased his damage for balance.

[Ultimate] (↑)
Base Damage: 120-180 >> 180-240

This is more like a balancing adjustment than a buff to Nolan. He deserved the nerf before since he has been a top pick or even an autobahn hero in some of the highly competitive tournaments. But now, his performance has been lackluster so the game decided to buff him in some other way which is to increase just the base damage of his ultimate skill. Its previous max level base damage is now its damage as this ultimate skill was unlocked initially. It is an increase of 60 base damage points across all levels (from 120/150/180 to 180/210/240).

2. Ling nerf

With Tanks taking less of the Jungle, Ling has become the main role in the Jungle. The game has reduced his damage in the late game to keep him balanced.

[Attributes] (↓)
Physical Attack Growth: 8.25 >> 6

Ling has been back as a top pick in Jungle role and this could also be seen in the current ongoing MSC 2024 where he is either picked or banned. It was because of the recent adjustments made by the game to give both Tanks and Assassins even chances to be picked in this role. One factor why many banned Ling is because in the hands of a great player, he can be very deadly with an insane mobility and thus, the game decided to nerf his physical attack growth. This may be huge as it’s 2.5 points less that also scales every level. In late game, it will accumulate and means he will have around 35 less physical attack stat.

3. Cici buff

Slightly increased her power in the early game.

[Attributes] (↑)
Base Physical Defense: 18 >> 23
Base Magic Defense: 10 >> 15

[Skill 1] (↑)
Base Damage: 60-85 >> 65-90

After the new hero syndrome effect faded, players started to use Cici less and less than before. Players now have a better judgment on if she is really on par with the top picks or not. It turns out she is not, so the game buffed her. One of her weaknesses is early game which is crucial as an EXP Laner. Thus, the game increased not only the damage of her skill 1 but also her base defense attributes. Both her physical and magical defense are now five points higher each. Her base damage in skill 1 is also increased by 5 points not only in early game but also in late game, with similar scaling as before.

This patch note update is also a short one since as discussed before, the game is being conservative in adjusting heroes at the moment because MSC 2024 is still ongoing. The game’s advanced server is a slightly different metagame since they are also testing some battlefield effects. The newest hero Suyou also received some more balancing adjustments in the test server so it is hard to determine which would be the final adjustments that might be intact once he is released in the official server. Currently, MSC is still ongoing with its Group Stage and this latest update was released just this last July 4, 2024. Many things like hero adjustments may still happen in the upcoming days.
