Mobile Legends Project Next 2021 Revamped Heroes Review - Sun; Karina; Alpha; and Minotaur

The Mobile Legends: Bang Bang development project a.k.a. Project Next is now on its Phase 2. Part of the second phase of the game improvement was the revamped of old heroes, in which this 2021, Sun and the three other heroes got some very significant changes.

The adjustments were all implemented along with Patch Notes 1.5.88. Here are the developers' notes on the revamped heroes.

1. Karina

She is the winner of the "Reforge Your Legend" event that is why developers prioritized her in revamping. The revamps on her included the following:
  • For her passive, extra damage will be dealt to a target when they are hit 3 times. Triggering her passive at hero targets now reduces the cooldowns of Karina's Skill 1 and Skill 2.
  • For her skill 1, Karina's next Basic Attack will be enhanced, with which she can charge at the target and slow them down. This state ends when the enhanced Basic Attack or her ultimate skill is cast.
  • There were no changes for her skill 2.
  • For her ultimate skill, it still locks on to and charges at the target as before, but can now also summon a Shadowform that lingers behind it, too. Use the skill again to quickly return to the Shadowform's location.
In addition, Karina leaves a Shadow Mark on enemies hit by her Shadow Assault, and its cooldown is reset when a target with a Shadow Mark dies.

2. Alpha

He is one of those heroes that no matter buffs was made to him, he is still not an ideal and optimal pick in any battlefield situations. That is why a revamp on his skills is really needed. Here are the improvements:
  • For his passive, each time Alpha uses a skill, he summons Beta to attack and mark the target. Beta will launch 3 laser strikes upon reaching 2 marks. Each of Beta's first two laser strikes deals an amount of True Damage and briefly reduces the target's Movement Speed, and the final one is an AOE attack that deals even more True Damage.
  • His skill 1 was not changed.
  • For his skill 2, after charging the skill for a while, Alpha strikes forward in a fan-shaped area, dealing Physical Damage. Each hit restores HP. Then Beta strafes the enemies within the area, dealing Physical Damage.
  • For his ultimate skill, Alpha commands Beta to smash down at a set location, dealing Physical Damage and inflicting stun. At the same time, Alpha flies over to the area and deals Physical Damage to targets in his path, knocking them airborne toward his destination, and then smashing down to deal Physical Damage and slow them. After Alpha smashes down, Beta launches 5 AOE strikes upon the target area, each dealing Physical Damage.

3. Minotaur

He now has brand-new art assets that fit the image of this furious Minotaur better. Here are the revamps on his skills:
  • For his passive, all his skills' cooldowns now reset whenever he enters the Rage State.
  • There were no changes on his skill 1 and ultimate skill.
  • For his skill 2, it gained a new effect that enhances his Basic attacks for 5s each time the skill is cast.
4. Sun

He is known as "the Monkey King" but he can't live up to that name without a proper revamp. Here are the developments on his skills:
  • For his skill 1, Sun hurls his Golden Staff in a designated direction, dealing damage to enemies along its path and slowing them. Upon hitting heroes or creeps, it transforms into a Doppelganger that pursues the enemy. The Golden Staff will transform into a Doppelganger at the end of its path if no heroes or creeps are hit.

  • He gained a new skill which is [Skill 2 - Swift Exchange]. Sun hurls his Golden Staff in a designated direction, dealing damage to enemies along its path and slowing them. At that point, Sun will create a Doppelganger to confuse the enemies, while he enters stealth and sends himself and his Golden Staff flying. When it reaches the destination, he catches it and reappears. Hitting an enemy hero on its path will end its flight and make Sun appear.

This skill is learned together with his Skill 1, and shares the same cooldown and skill level bonuses.

  • His previous skill 2 is now his skill 3, Instantaneous Move. Sun and his Doppelgangers launch an instantaneous attack against a designated enemy, dealing damage to the target and enemies behind it. Doppelgangers created with Skill 1 and 2 now cast this skill when Sun uses it.

There were also optimization made to Sun. Here are the other fixes implemented to him:
    • Optimized the rules of HP inheritance for Sun's Doppelgangers. Now they inherit Sun's current HP and show an HP Bar identical to Sun's.
    • Optimized the AI of Sun's Doppelgangers. Now it's smarter.
Overall, these four heroes received great adjustments that can only be provided by a full hero revamp. They got unordinarily changes that is not usually done in buffs and normal hero adjustments.

Will you use these heroes now? Share this great news to your friends. Stay tuned for more!
