It has been officially announced in the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) YouTube channel that the upcoming huge update, Patch Notes 1.8.20, is coming up this September 2023 as part of the Project NEXT development initiative. The YouTube video provides a preview of what are the things to expect from the update. Aside from the regular hero and battlefield balancing adjustments, the September 2023 update will have visual revamps in the game and a new mode will be introduced. Here are the significant contents from the upcoming Patch Notes 1.8.20.
There are six heroes that will receive visual revamps which are the following: Lolita, Layla, Miya, Bruno, Johnson, and X.Borg. Lolita will also receive a huge skill revamp while Johnson is also expected to have some optimizations in terms of skill mechanics. The revamped home screen interface has also been revealed and the preview showed the evolution of the game's main interface. An upcoming hero is also teased with its visuals still hidden but the game's test server has this hero named Nolan which will probably be the hero that will be released in the global server too.
There is also a new game mode that will make its debut and it will be called Domination. This is an Arcade game mode, which is like a mini-game in MLBB with a bit different gameplay experience, in which some examples of Arcade game modes are Mayhem and Overdrive mode. Domination mode, as shown in the preview, will still be played in a 3 lane battlefield but with a hexagonal-like shape. The aim is to gain control points. There will also be portals in the battlefield so it will give a spice in the game mode.

The revamped lore of Eruditio is also included in this upcoming update. Patch Notes 1.8.20 will arrive in the game's original/official server on September 19, 2023.
