Hi guys, it's been a while! I'm Arnold, responsible for designing battle experience and hero balance. Today, I'd like to talk about the upcoming Slowdown Mechanism Adjustments.
Before we start, I'd like to ask you a simple math question: assuming Hero A's initial Movement Speed is 300, what's the Movement Speed then when he's slowed down by 90%?
Clever pals like you, would pop the answer out immediately: 30! But sorry, in MLBB, it's 115, because according the present rules, the lowest Movement Speed is 115.
Alright, here's another question: assuming Hero A's Movement Speed is 300, what's the Movement Speed then when he's slowed down by 80%?
115? Maybe that's the answer you'd give to me. But sorry, it's 145. According to the current rules of MLBB, when a Hero's Movement Speed is lower than 230, the Slowing Effect received will be reduced.
Well, perhaps you're getting confused and even want to hit me...
Actually, this design is to keep the game balanced and prevent the excessive stacks of Slowing Effect. Imagine when a Hero is attacked by Lylia's Shadow Energy (80% slowdown) and Aurora's Frost Shock (30% slowdown) at the same time, the total Slowing Effect would be 110%. Therefore, the Hero would be unable to move at all and even walk backward when trying to move forward. Apparently, it doesn't make sense.
However, we've noticed that the current rules have affected the game experience as the reduced Slowing Effect cannot reflect the great decline in Movement Speed.
Therefore, we've decided to adjust how the Slowing Effect decays and the lowest Movement Speed. In the new mechanism, the Slowing Effect will be greatly improved under the same conditions. For example, according to the new mechanism, when a Hero moves at the speed of 300 and is slowed down by 55%, the Movement Speed will be 145. Under the current mechanism, to achieve this result, the Hero needs to be slowed down by about 80%.
Moreover, we will further optimize the Slowdown Mechanism. But don't worry, it won't be changed completely and it's easy to get familiar with.
Besides, we're working on enhancing the Heroes without Dash abilities, especially Tanks, Supports and Mages to make them more competitive when fighting against Heroes possessing strong Dash abilities and high Movement Speed.
Certainly, we truly value your opinions and suggestions. And we will keep optimizing the Slowdown Mechanism according to the data and your feedback.
We sincerely hope these adjustments will bring better game experience in the New Season. Have fun in MLBB!
