MPL-PH Franchise League in Season 8 Schedule - Teams Roster Reveal and Future Plans

In an online press conference for Mobile Legends Professional League Season 8, MPL was introduced to be a Franchise League with 8 initial teams. The future plans for Season 8 and the succeeding seasons was also presented and here are the details about the teams, their rosters, and other significant information.


On the press conference last July 14, 2021, the 8 initial teams were revealed. It includes the current champion, Blacklist International, along with Bren Esports, Echo, Nexplay EVOS, Onic PH, RSG PH, Smart Omega, and TNC. The rosters of each team were already finalized and announced in the official MPL-PH Facebook Page.


The planned schedule for the Regular Season is it will begin on August 13, 2021 and end on October 3, 2021. The Playoffs will be on late October 2021. There will be a total of 7 matches each week. On Fridays and Sundays, there will be 2 matches while on Saturday, there will be 3 matches.

The regular season will last for 8 weeks while the Playoffs length will be 4 days. The format is a double round robin which means there will be a total of 56 Best-of-3 matches. The Top 6 teams will advance to the playoffs. The Top 2 teams will be seeded into the upper bracket semifinals. The bottom 2 teams will not advance to the playoffs.


For the Playoffs, the format will be double elimination. Grand Finals match will be Best-of-7 while all other matches are Best-of-5. The venue for the playoffs will be in a Bubble Set-up unlike in the Regular Season that will have an Online Set-up.

In the same press conference, the future plans was also shared. It includes the tentative launch of MDL on Season 9 and New Franchise Teams might also be considered to be added on Season 9 or Season 10.
