Netflix confirmed that it will work on its upcoming video game based on Hwang Dong-hyuk’s popular dystopian South Korean drama, Squid Game.

Squid Game is one of Netflix’s most successful and popular projects, bringing the company’s worth to almost $1 billion.

According to a blog post by Netflix Games Vice President Mike Verdu, it was confirmed that the game will be set in the same place where players will be able to “compete with other players in games from the hit series.”.

As per the description, the Squid Game video game will allow players to compete with other players in the popular games from the series, including “Red Light, Green Light," "Dalgona," and “Glass Bridge.”.

The Squid Game video game will be the latest iteration for the Squid Game Universe, following the debut of the first season of its reality series competition, Squid Game: The Challenge, where 1 player out of 456 participants won a staggering $4.56 million grand prize.

The Squid Game: The Challenge already confirmed its renewal for season 2 and is currently accepting applications for interested players, despite the reported controversies on set.

The announcement of the Squid Game video game was only in one sentence, and Vice President Verdu hasn't disclosed any details yet regarding the gameplay or its release date.
