CS 2
Valve warns that AMD’s Anti-Lag+ feature could lead to Counter-Strike 2 bans. The feature triggers the Valve Anti-Cheat (VAC) system, mistaking the driver’s low-latency mode for cheating. The problem lies in Anti-Lag+ intercepting and redirecting Dynamic Link Library (DLL) functions. VAC views DLL reroutes as cheats. Valve plans to reverse bans once AMD ships a driver update. Whose at fault? Valve or CS2?

Speaking of more weird stuff in CS2, do you know that you can use the words Michael Jackson and Counterstrike 2 in a sentence and it would make sense? Sort of… Counter-Strike 2 players are impersonating Michael Jackson in-game with an exploit that allows them to lean while peeking. The exploit was discovered by a player on the CSGO subreddit in which an enemy could be seen leaning while peeking, a mechanic very much not intended in CS2.
A player on the CSGO forum decided to create a config to allow others to pull off the Michael Jackson peek consistently, allowing anyone to easily lean while peeking. Unfortunately, Valve has patched out the bug in an October 13 update.

UPDATE: AMD has removed the old driver and have now introduced a new driver that deactivates the technology for all supported games. The newly released 23.10.2 driver comes just one week after the 23.10.1 driver, which was the first to introduce Anti-Lag+ support for Counter Strike 2. This may have been caused by other games also having issues with the Anti Lag option(APEX, COD).

Activision Blizzard
Microsoft has acquired Activision Blizzard for $68.7 billion in an all-cash transaction. The acquisition makes Microsoft the world’s third-largest gaming company by revenue, behind Tencent and Sony. The acquisition includes iconic franchises from the Activision, Blizzard and King studios like “Warcraft,” “Diablo,” “Overwatch,” “Call of Duty” and “Candy Crush,” in addition to global eSports activities through Major League Gaming. Bobby Kotick will continue to serve as CEO of Activision Blizzard, and he and his team will maintain their focus on driving efforts to further strengthen the company’s culture and accelerate business growth. Bobby Kotick will leave Activision Blizzard on January 1, 2024 with a 400M USD exit payout. Once the deal closes, the Activision Blizzard business will report to Phil Spencer, CEO, Microsoft Gaming.
