New Open-World RPG Pokémon Legends: Arceus coming to Nintendo Switch in 2022

The Pokémon Company announced on Pokémon Presents live stream last Friday something fans have been waiting for so long, developed by Game Freak, it is an open-world RPG Pokémon adventure that will be launched on Nintendo Switch worldwide in early 2022 titled as Pokémon Legends: Arceus.

It will take place in the old Sinnoh Region and the trainer will be presented with three starter Pokémons from different regions: Rowlet from Alola, Cyndaquil from Johto, and Oshawott from Unova. They also include some iconic monsters like Piplup. Although Arceus, the godlike Pokémon, plays a major role in the game, there wasn't additional information given about its role during the stream.

In the same event, Pokémon Company also announced that there are upcoming remakes of classics Pokémon Diamond and Pearl that will also be in Nintendo Switch and will be released in late 2021.

Here is the game's basic premise:

As trainers explore the natural expanses in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, they’ll encounter pokémon that call these grand vistas home. To catch wild pokémon, players can study the pokémon’s behaviors, sneak up to them, then throw poké balls. Players can also battle wild Pokémon with their ally pokémon. By throwing the poké ball holding their ally pokémon near a wild pokémon, players will seamlessly enter battle. This new gameplay angle is intended to provide trainers with an immersive experience.
