OB Esports x Neon player, ‘Natsumi’ left the team

OB Esports x Neon, a Filipino Dota 2 team, revealed on Tuesday (27 July) that carry player John Anthony "Natsumi-" Vargas has left the squad weeks after the team failed to qualify for The International 10 (TI10) earlier this month.

Following a successful season with the now-defunct Adroit Esports, Natsumi joined Neon in November of last year for the 2021 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC). Natsumi made an instant impact on Neon by assisting the team in finishing second in the Southeast Asian regional league and earning a berth in the ONE Esports Singapore Major in April.

Natsumi, on the other hand, was unable to join the squad in Singapore since he had been deemed "unfit to travel" at the time. Despite Natsumi's absence and the need to play with substitutes, Neon had a fantastic run in the Singapore Major, finishing in the Top 6.

Neon got off to a fast start in the qualification, sweeping Motivate 2-0. Trust Gaming, on the other hand, lost their next two matches to Fnatic and Execration, and so missed out on this year's Dota 2 global championship event.

OB Esports x Neon roster:
  1. N/A
  2. Erin "Yopaj" Ferrer
  3. Michael "Enryu" Ladines
  4. Andrei "skem" Ong
  5. Jaunuel "Jaunuel" Arcilla
Natsumi contributed significantly to OB.Neon's victory in numerous tournaments. Natsumi contributed to the team's second-place finishes in Southeast Asia Upper Division Season 1 and the Asia Pacific Predator League 2020/21, in addition to their third-place result in the Huya Winter Invitational.

"Natsumi"- played in over 200 games for us this season and was a big part of our triumph. We must now part ways, and we wish Natsumi- the best of luck in his Dota career "Neon said this in a tweet on their official account.

Despite their impressive performance in the Singapore Major, Neon struggled in Season 2 of the regional competition, finishing sixth. As a result, the team lost out on the WePlay AniMajor and had to compete in the Southeast Asian regional qualification to win a seat in TI10.

Neon is presently competing in the Southeast Asian portion of the BTS Pro Series Season 7 closed qualifications, with Andrei "skem" Ong taking up the carry role left vacant by Natsumi. The team has not said whether this switch would be permanent or temporary in public.

Before Natsumi joined the team, Skem was Neon's carry, but once Natsumi arrived, he moved to the position 4 support role. For BTS Pro Series Season 7, the squad has enlisted stand-in Mark "Shanks" Redira to take up the position 4 place.
