Off the Grid is set to be released in 2023

District 9 and Chappie director Neill Blomkamp announced a AAA multiplayer shooter for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC over a year ago. Now, the project has been revealed as Off The Grid, a Battle Royale game. While there is no confirmed PS4 version release, it will be released for the PS5 in 2023.

Off The Grid, set in a dystopian future, will trap 150 players against each other in PvP skirmishers as well as PvE storyline missions. During the PvE battles, players will be able to influence how the story progresses, with each decision having a direct impact on everyone's gameplay. As they progress through the game, players will be able to craft, customize, and trade their in-game items with one another.

According to Blomkamp, “So on this island, you have corporate sabotage and espionage and things that are happening that result in the hiring of assassins – those are basically the players that you embody – and through doing that, you can see how this world of refugees and contractors and mercenaries-for-hire and corporate elites all create this really interesting bubbling powder keg of conflict and layers and layers and layers of characters and stories that you can go into in different ways in the future,”

There is still more to know about this new game. So stay tuned for the latest updates!
