In Phantom Galaxies, you'll be immersed in a fast-paced third-person experience that looks and plays exactly like the classic 3D action RPGs that millions of gamers are familiar with. To save humanity from an alien attack, join the elite Ranger Squadron and learn how to fly a Mechanized Starfighter. As the last hope for mankind on the boundaries of known space, you must battle the Sha'Har, a mysterious and warlike culture set on eradicating humanity for desecrating their hallowed tomb worlds on the fringes of the known universe. Dress up as a youthful ace 'Ensign' and defend Neoterra when the time comes.

The war can only be won if the troops of Neoterra Strap into transforming mecha spacecraft that are capable of fighting on both the ground and in space. There are four different classes/vessels to learn, including the stealthy and agile Lancer, the melee-oriented Breacher, the balanced Assault class, and the mobile artillery Buster suit, among others. Build the perfect war machine to lead the forces of humanity by upgrading components to make each ship uniquely tailored. Unlock new skills, powers, weapon configurations, and more to customize mech rigs for any situation and to completely destroy any opponents.

Navigate through breathtaking star systems, stopping to explore sectors populated by pirates, scavengers, and other wild factions. Carry out bounties and smuggling tasks in seedy backwater black marketplaces, or go on a quest for rare precious resources dispersed throughout asteroid belts and abandoned mining operations. But proceed with caution! Almost every decision the player makes will have repercussions across the colonies, affecting the ensign's reputation and dictating how the narrative of Phantom Galaxies branches and unfolds.

"Phantom Galaxies is a stunning and evocative medley of everything we love about science fiction and action RPGs. Building this online mecha space opera has us ‘over the moon’ and we can’t wait to take everyone on a ride later next year."

Ben Lee, CEO of Blowfish Studios

"Our goal with Phantom Galaxies is to provide not just an amazing game experience but also a shining example of how blockchain integration can put real in-game governance in the hands of the players."
-
Yat Siu, Chairman and Co-founder of Animoca Brands

Once completed, it will be a fully fleshed-out PC/console game that will incorporate blockchain technology and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) to enable actual player-driven governance and game asset ownership. Blowfish Studios assures its players that they will have "digital property rights," and that they will have true ownership and control of in-game assets such as mechs, equipment, avatars, and game currency, by having those assets exist as fungible and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) on an energy-efficient and scalable blockchain.

Blowfish Studios co-founder Ben Lee expressed his appreciation for the fact that there might be some ambiguity on the integration of NFTs into Phantom Galaxies during an interview with GamesBeat. He stated "I know exactly what you're saying about how current blockchain and crypto games have been. I believe some started off as crypto indie developers, and these games came from blockchain projects and not game developers." In conclusion, Lee said "What I truly want is true triple-A in a blockchain game experience where I own the assets and get the best of both worlds."

According to the developers, the game will feature a "thrilling narrative campaign of survival and dominance in a hostile galaxy," and it will go into early access in the second quarter of 2022. No specific platforms have been mentioned yet, but it's possible that Phantom Galaxies is aiming for the PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X in order to make the most of the available hardware and deliver the experience demonstrated in the new trailer. If this sounds like something you'd wager your money on, individuals who sign up for game news will be eligible to get a free NFT airdrop as a thank you for their support.
