Philippines take home first gold medal in the Women's League of Legends: Wild Rift

Scoring the first gold medal at the 31st SEA Games esports event, the Philippines representative for Women's League of Legends: Wild Rift defeated their Singaporean opponents in the grand finals last Wednesday.

Representing the SIBOL Philippines national esports team for League of Legends: Wild Rift Women’s division, the Grind Sky Eris consist of Rose "Hell Girl" Robles, April "Aeae" Valiente, Christine "Rayray" Natividad, Charize "Yugen" Doble, Giana "Jeeya" Llanes, and Angel "ANGELAILAILA" Lozada.

Competing against teams from Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Laos, the Philippines dominated the group stage making them the first team to enter the playoffs stage with a perfect 4-0 score.

Opening the playoffs stage with a best-of-five semifinals match with Thailand, the Thai team first won the match of the series but the Philippines team quickly bounced back and consecutively won three matches, taking the first spot for the gold medal match.

Challenging the Philippines team in the grand finals was the Singaporean team. Even though the Singaporean team put up a spirited fight, the Philippines team showed their resilience and dominated the grand finals match with a 3-0 score, making them the first team to win the gold medal for the Philippines in Women's League of Legends: Wild Rift.
