Diamond and Pearl was launched in 2006 for Nintendo DS. The setting was in Sinnoh that was home to Pokémons such as Arceus, Luxio, Bidoof and Driflon. The updated version though, has a chibified look to its characters but still a "faithful remake" to its original.

A trailer was released alongside the announcement and the trailer showed some familiar locations and faces in the Switch version. The trailer also teased a quality of life upgrades. Both ILCA and Game Freak have been working on Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl so we could really anticipate this remake.

ILCA, which stands for I Love Computer Art, was formed in 2010, and the Japanese studio has since worked on titles such as Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Yakuza 0, NieR: Automata, Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown and Dragon Quest XI, and many more.

Game Freak Co., Ltd. is a Japanese video game developer, best known as the primary developer of the Pokémon series of role-playing video games published by Nintendo.
