PSO2 2 x SAO Collaboration Event Starts May 12

Sega announced that the PSO2 SAO partnership case will be available in the global edition of its MMORPG on May 12, 2021. In the Japanese version of the game, the incident had already occurred. Fans in the west will be able to get special event prizes like products and emote for the first time. Original story material featuring Asuna and Kirito from Sword Art Online will also be used in Phantasy Star Online 2.

Asuna and Kirito from SAO can be found in PSO2's Shopping Plaza. Players will get their respective Partner Cards if they gain favor with the protagonists. Characters from Sword Art Online may also have unique requests.

Hairstyles, dresses, voice tickets, and weapons are among the perks available to fans. Sega also explained that the prizes are unrelated to AC Scratch and do not need real money, so players who compete will be able to win all in-game items.

Initial story material will be used in the limited-time collaboration between PSO2 and SAO. Asuna and Kirito will star in the story as they explore the universe of Phantasy Star Online 2. To advance the plot, players must complete Client Orders from the characters. Participants can get special emotes and objects for completing the quests.

Sega's free-to-play MMORPG is Phantasy Star Online 2. The game was only available in Japan until 2020 when it was given English support and a global release. In May 2021, Sega will hold a closed beta for Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis on Windows 10 PCs, which will be a shared universe and a major upgrade to the original game. Fans will also tune in to a special broadcast on the new word, which will air in April 2021.

“Kirito and Asuna from Sword Art Online are very familiar with living in an MMORPG, and we now welcome them to explore the world of our own world of PSO2. They’ll be bringing a lot of special rewards and items like outfits, hairstyles, voice tickets, and weapons for players to collect to commemorate their time here.”

In the west, Phantasy Star Online 2 is available on Xbox One and PC. In Japan, the game was released on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation Vita. On May 12, 2021, the PSO2 SAO partnership will be available in the global edition of the game. In some related PSO2 news, the New Genesis update is receiving another closed beta on May 14. And in case you missed it, check out some of the dangerous enemies in New Genesis.

In the meanwhile, Sega recently announced Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, which will basically be a new game operated in parallel with the original Phantasy Star Online 2. The original game will, in turn, receive a visual upgrade to bring it more in line with New Genesis’ graphics (this has actually already happened on the Japanese version). Players will be able to use the same accounts and characters to play both games.
