PUBG Mobile included in the 2022 Asian Games Medal Event

From September 10 to 25, 2022, the Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou, China. Basketball, baseball, boxing, golf, gymnastics, handball, soccer, fencing, and other sports are among those included in the multi-sport event. However, "mind sports" will be included in the Asian Games of 2022. Games like chess, bridge, and the ancient Chinese game of Go fall within this category, although esports are also included.

A new video game will be added to the esports category's roster for the "mind sport" of esports. Tencent Games has announced that PUBG Mobile would compete in the 2022 Asian Games among seven other esports. The Asian Games will be the first to integrate esports as official medal events, with eight videogames competing.

The inclusion appears to be due to the fact that PUBG Mobile is a hugely popular multiplayer game in Asia, with millions of enthusiasts. PUBG Mobile will compete against Arena of Valor, DOTA 2, Dream Three Kingdoms 2, FIFA, Hearthstone, League of Legends, and Street Fighter V for gold, silver, and bronze awards.

The Asian Games 2022 will be full of 84 events in forty sports. The last seven games in this sport are at the same time as the final.
  • Asian Games: Arena of Valor.
  • Dota 2
  • Dream Three Kingdoms 2:36.
  • EA Sports Sports FIFA.
  • Hearthstone
  • League of Legends.
  • PUBG Mobile Asian Games version.
  • Street Fighter V:
Tencent, who is the developer of the Arena of Valor, will probably also make a separate version of the MOBA game for the Asian Games.

This isn't the first Asian Games to involve esports; the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, featured esports as well, but solely as a showcase sport. Demonstrations were held for League of Legends, Pro Evolution Soccer 2018, Arena of Valor, Clash Royale, Starcraft 2, and Hearthstone.

“It’s an honour for PUBG MOBILE to be included in the 2022 Asian Games. We’re incredibly lucky to have a number of extremely talented players from several countries including Malaysia, and can’t wait to see them compete as part of such a prestigious event. Fans of the game can look forward to exciting competition between the region’s best PUBG MOBILE players as they’re celebrated alongside the best athletes in Asia,” said James Yang, Director of Global Esports, Tencent Games.

The 19th Asian Games, which will be held in 2022, will be the first to include esports as an official medal event. The Asian Games in 2022 will feature 45 nations, including India, Japan, Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, the Philippines, China (host), Malaysia, Pakistan, and many others.

As seen by the loud scenes witnessed when Chinese esports club EDward Gaming won the recent League of Legends World Championship finals, China is a significant esports stronghold with many millions of esports enthusiasts. The Chinese government has also made a financial and institutional commitment to the esports business. It should come as no surprise that esports will be an official medal event in the 2022 Asian Games, which will be held in a Chinese city.
