Class Selection Guide: Acolyte > Priest > High Priest (Exorcism)

If you've ever played Ragnarok Online on PC or mobile version, do take extra note that the system in ROX is somewhat similar but then again it is not 100% similar. But either way, let’s enjoy the game and grow strong together!

At the beginning, we'll all be starting out as a novice in the main city, Prontera, going through the main story quest, together with tutorial to unlock more functions and also to understand the game better. When you hit job level 10, there'll be a quest pop out to auto path to the Criatura Academy for your job change, YAY!! And then you'll be given three recommended builds, each with different stats, skill set and beginner weapon.

For acolyte, they are mainly;
  1. Melee (Mace + Pdef Shield) – Path of Battle Priest (Physical Offensive);
  2. Exocist (Staff + Mdef Shield) – Path of Holy Spell (Magical Offensive);
  3. Support (Book [2 handed]) – Path of Full Support Priest (Buff & Heal your teammates)
Different builds got their own pros & cons, cards, equipment sets, enchantment and so on to focus on.

For my case, I want to build a full support priest and give my teammates buff and heal. However, I'll be going for Exocist build first, reason being that you'll be having a very hard time slowly poking the monster, especially those that are not undead, demon, or formless type where you can spam heal on them to kill them faster. Unless you’re able to get a permanent party team up that brings you every where and leech, with and without Odin’s Blessing to so to fasten up your exp gains from afk grinding.

So for exocist acolyte, I’ll be given staff that gives matk and mpen as base stats, and mdef shield that gives hp and mdef stats, more survivability first so not to get crushed during instances when you're kind of absent minded or slow in reaction.

Stats: I’ll not be following the recommended stats that’s given by the game guide, instead I’ll pump all into INT for more matk. By the way, our matk will affect the amount of all healing skills which consist of Light Blessing from acolyte's skill tree, Santuary from priest’s skill tree, and coluceo heal from high priest’s skill tree. Only the normal Heal in acotyle's skill tree will be based on your Base Level and INT. After which, you can pump either DEX for more haste/vigor that helps with cast and cooldown time, or VIT for more hp which helps with survivability. There will be free stats reset stone given as time goes by, so don’t worry if you pump in the wrong stats or want to try a different build!

Skills: Do take extra note that the active skill has their cooldown or cast time which increases in each level. Here, we’ll get the skills to level 1 first, then subsequently slowly increasing them to higher level where your variable cooldown time is reduced to the maximum. Below are the skills that I would up before getting to priest (not in order);
  • Heal – 4 (depends on cooldown)
  • Light Blessing - 10
  • Blessing – 10
  • Increase Agility – 10
  • Kyrie Eleison – 10
  • Signum Crusis – 3 (depends on cooldown)
  • Holy Light – 3 (depends on cooldown)
Not to worry if you’re not satisfied with the skill build cause our main purpose is to focus on getting to priest as soon as possible to get resurrection skill, and you’ll be able to unlock a new slot to store new build for free once after you’ve reached 2nd job change and subsequently some in game crystal for next slot and so on. You’ll also be given free skill reset rod as time goes by.

Equipment: For starting out, the equipment set dropped from Golden Thief Bug instance is good enough to last you until you get enough coins to exchange for purple equipment. For accessories, do get the ones that gives haste/vigor to reduce your variable casting and cooldown time. It really helps a lot though it’s just a small amount.
Card: Aim for vigor, matk mpen, hp cards.

Stats Points recommendation guide for Acolyte/Priest. Priest are supports but also powerful as a magic user. They rely on Sanctuary as a dps/heal and Turn Undead for burst damage. This is the usual build you go for priest in ROX.

The only basic stat you need is INT Why?

1. You get your damage from int which gives magic attack.

2. You don’t need dex for casting time as items give more reduce casting time.

3. Do I need vit? Yes and No. If you want to build a tank type then yes but if not then no. Your armors are enough to give you the hp you need.

4. It is best to use 2 handed book in early as it gives u a lot of vigor and you can focus on matk on accessory. 1 handed staff is hard because of vigor but in lategame you can have vigor you need from Gold Grade Talisman.

5. If you find your skills cast take too long i suggest using 2 handed book but the difference of having 2 handed weapon makes you squishy because you couldn't equips shields. 2 handed book gives you a lot of Vigor and final Vigor when refined, While 1 hand staff gives less M.ATK but gives more Magic Damage Penetration but combined with a shield it can boost your Max HP a lot and the Magic Damage Bonus compensates the lack of M.ATK handed wands gives.

Strategies:

PVM And Leveling
Priest are also great for leveling for me with or without having party members although it is only limited to undead or demon type monster. Turn Undead have a chance to 1hit KO a undead mob depends on your int, luk and skill level.

MVP
Priest are full support in MVP although they can deal some damage but they usually heal and resurrect their teammates so they can focus on dealing a lot of damage.

Endless Tower
Priest are always needed for full support role even on endless tower. Endless tower keep you from using hp potions and reduce your hp regen by a lot. On lower levels you can’t heal your teammates because of the curse, but after you buy angelings blessing on floor 21 it will reduce the curse and you can heal your teammates.

PvP KvM and WOE Priest
In PvP, Priest are usually using 1 handed staff and shield for a tanky priest but they can still deal a lot of damage same with KVM and WOE the difference is that u have teammates that can help u damage and you can focus on healing, buffs, and status.

I would like to make different builds and Equipment included in guide but it would take the guide long enough to read so maybe next time.
This is just my opinion; if I'm wrong, please correct me. I've only been playing Ragnarok X on the TW server for almost three weeks, so please take my article with a grain of salt.

Note: I'm compiling all the guide I can find for Ragnarok Next Generation, for this guide credits to Gerald Monzon
