Rell, The Iron Maiden - League of Legends New Champion Revealed PC

Samira and Seraphine are still basking in the spotlight of League players' eyes. But, if you have seen the Champion Roadmap: September 2020, the one in the Wanted Poster was finally revealed! Let's all welcome Rell, The Iron Maiden! There's a reason behind the teased Wanted Poster and why her design looks too powerful for the role of support. Without further ado, let's get cracking!

First off, let's take a quick peek at Rell's lore. It wasn't long since we've met Samira and heard the group of the Black Rose once again. It's an old secret organization stationed in Noxus. You've all heard LeBlanc say the phrase, "The Black Rose shall bloom once more". Yes, that exact Black Rose is where Rell's story of power revolves. I'll make the long story short as much as I can.

Rell is a child gifted with the great power to control metal. She's an heir of a fallen noble house. One day, a certain pale woman visited her family and made a dark bargain. It might be LeBlanc since she's related to Rell according to her Biography. She was taken to a hidden academy where she quickly became a star pupil. She was forced to duel against other students and every time she won, a new magic sigil was implanted into her arm. Those sigils amplify her magic and she becomes stronger each day.

To make the story shorter, when her 16th birthday came, she discovered that those sigils were actually the magic forced out of the body of those students she defeated. They became emotionless puppets. What's worse is that the headmistress, the one who orchestrated everything, was her mother. She tore her way out of the academy along with a handful of students and became an official threat to Noxus hence the Wanted Poster. Basically, she fights for justice, wants to destroy Noxus, and rescue as many children as she can from the Black Rose academy while riding her iron steed. Ain't that terrifyingly lovely?

If you want to read the full lore and other more official details, you'll find the important links down below. As for her role, at first glance, some of you might think that she's a new top lane champion due to how powerful she was described. Her control of metal seems to be edgy and deserves the brutal and ever-warring lane of the top side of the map. But, the roadmap and biography states otherwise. She's a support champion! She has that Leona vibe after all.

Now, let's take a look at the official abilities rundown provided by Riot. Thanks, Riot!

Passive.jpg Passive - Break the Mold
Rell attacks very slowly, but temporarily steals a portion of her target’s Armor and Magic Resist to deal bonus damage based on the amount stolen. Additionally, Rell can siphon resistances from multiple different foes to grow extremely tanky.

S1.jpg Q - Shattering Strike
Rell stabs forward with her lance, breaking any shields and damaging all enemies hit (damage decreases after the first target). If Rell has an ally bound with E - Attract and Repel, she and that ally recover health for each champion hit by this ability.

S2.jpg W1 - Ferromancy: Crash Down
(Can only cast while mounted) Rell leaps into the sky and transforms her mount into heavy armor, gaining a huge shield that lasts until destroyed or remounting. Upon landing, she knocks up all enemies around her. Rell can cast

E - Attract and Repel and R - Magnet Storm during the transformation.
Rell has increased durability, low movement speed, and a movement speed cap while in armored form. After the transformation, this ability changes to Ferromancy: Mount Up.

W2 - Ferromancy: Mount Up

(Can only cast while in armored form) Rell rushes forward and transforms her armor into a mount, gaining a burst of movement speed. During her next attack, she charges her target to deal bonus damage and flip them over her shoulder.

Rell has increased movement speed while mounted. After the transformation, this ability changes to Ferromancy: Crash Down.

S3.jpg E - Attract and Repel
Rell magnetically binds a piece of her armor to a target allied champion, granting them bonus Armor and Magic Resist while nearby.

Rell can recast this spell to break the bind and stun all enemies around and between her and her bound ally.

S4.jpg R - Magnet Storm
Rell erupts in magnetic fury, yanking nearby enemies toward her. She then creates a gravitational field around her, pulling nearby enemies in for a few seconds. The field doesn't interrupt her enemies’ other actions.

Her passive is like Mordekaiser's Ult but tankier. Her Q is a good sustain and damage source for her carry. Her W is the transformation between a walking tank or a riding maiden. Her riding form has an ability similar to Urgot's flip while her armored tank form has a knock up capability. That's insane! Her E is similar to Taric's link. Her ult is like an AOE and a lighter version of Skarner's Ult. You can still flash out and use abilities to escape I guess.

I wonder tho if she can have a solo meta wherein she can be a top lane champion rather than a support. We'll see that in a few weeks after her release. Speaking of release, we'll see the Iron Maiden and her metal steed hit the rift on Patch 10.25. She'll grab the spotlight for quite some time before another champion reveal comes in. Wait, another one?

Teaser Jungler.jpg

According to the roadmap and the description of this mysterious champion, we'll soon have a new jungle skirmisher. And it seems that we'll have romantic lore too! It's been so long since we've felt the romance in League when Xayah and Rakan came. But, that's for another story, folks!

Before we end, let me give my thanks to Riot, their team, especially Reav3, for the images and content I've used. We're all looking forward to the arrival of this new champion.
