As Roblox has now become one of the most popular online games released, the platform now plans to branch out by helping form “real life relationships”.
In the company’s recent keynote speech, Roblox CEO David Baszucki announced that they are planning to feature a dating system, in which users as young as 17 would be eligible for “17+” experiences.
Note that it will not be just avatars. Roblox plans on allowing connections to happen between two real people by this dating service they want to incorporate in the game. Aside from a video chat that will be hooked into Roblox, there will be an AI as well that can make a replication to the realness of a person.
Roblox already has several previous issues in the past and with this dating service they are planning, let’s hope that the company will not dig their own grave with this and give their plan more thought since they will be allowing minors to date in their app. Especially since they are located in San Mateo, California, the age of consent in the United States is 18, as well as in many other regions.
