Sailor Moon Cosmos to Premier this summer 2023

Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos, a two-part anime film, will premiere in early summer 2023. Sailor Moon is making another appearance for its 30th anniversary, and this time it promises to usher in the anime's most prosperous era yet.


Tomoya Takahashi will direct Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Cosmos. The screenplay is being written by Kazuyuki Fudeyasu, and the character designs are being handled by Kazuko Tadano . Yumiko Kuga of Studio Jack is the art director, and the musical score is composed by Yasuharu Takanashi. The animation production for both films is handled by Toei Animation and Studio DEEN.

The Sailor Moon franchise began with a manga written by Naoko Takeuchi. From 1991 to 1997, the manga was serialized in Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine. Aside from the original anime, the franchise has created a live-action series called Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, as well as numerous movies, OVAs, and specials.


Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal, the second anime adaptation, began in 2014. It was a manga adaptation that followed the storyline more closely. The dark Kingdom and Black Moon arcs were adapted in the first two seasons, while the Death Busters (also known as Infinity) arc was covered in the third. Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Eternal: The Movie, which was released in two parts.

Sailor Moon Crystal is available on Netflix while the two-part Sailor Moon Cosmos film will be released in Japan in early summer 2023. However, the global release date has yet to be announced.
