The largest chain of IT retail stores in the Philippines, Cyberzone, continues to bring the gaming communities together and provides various esports tournaments in the country where they can showcase their skills and talent. And with that, Smart is on it and has launched the Smart University Clash, which is open to universities and colleges nationwide. It opens great opportunities for student-athletes to develop their skills for career opportunities in the future.
On July 24 this year, the most anticipated University Clash Tournament, the latest project of the Collegiate Center for Esports, was launched, where 64 teams battled out their way into the grand finals during the nationwide play-offs. However, only eight teams were able to make it to the grand finals, where they battled head-to-head to reign as the University Clash Kings.
The eight competing teams are The University of Santo Tomas Teletigers Gold, Emilio Aguinaldo College Generals, Holy Cross of Davao College Teams A and B, Viridus Arcus of De La Salle University—Manila, Far Eastern U’s Invicta, Kabud Esports of the University of Cebu—Banilad, and Excelsiors Esports of Carlos Hilado Memorial State University. They are set to battle in the knockout quarterfinals.
Here are the teams that made it to the quarterfinals:
1st Match: Teletigers Gold vs. EAC Generals
2nd Match: HCDC B vs. HCDC A
3rd Match: Viridis Arcus vs. FEU Invicta
4th Match: Kabud Esports vs. Excelsiors Esports
CCE is currently gearing up for the upcoming Philippine Collegiate Championship that is scheduled for next month. There will be a total of 16 teams in the grand finals out of the 2,000 participating schools in their year-long qualifiers.
