Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 procie from Black Shark 5 Pro unveiled with SSD+UFS storage

The Black Shark 5 generation has three variants, one with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor, one with an 888+ processor, and one with an 870 processor.

The highest model is the Black Shark 5 Pro, which is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor. Two vapor chambers, one on each side (4,323 mm2 + 997 mm2), keep the chip cold. The Snapdragon is available with up to 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage, but there's more.

The 512 GB model's storage is split evenly between an NVMe SSD and standard UFS 3.1 (i.e. 256+256 GB). Black Shark has considerably improved random read and write performance using the so-called DM Cache technology. For those times when even faster storage is necessary, the fast LPDDR5 (6,400 Mbps) RAM can be used to build a RAM disk.

The phone also includes a high-capacity battery. It has a capacity of 4,650 mAh and enables 120W fast charging. The battery can be charged from zero to 100 percent in 15 minutes, but there is a temperature control mode that takes 24 minutes and is gentler on the battery. The phone also has a battery bypass capability for gaming while using external power.

A 6.67" AMOLED display is included with the Black Shark 5 Pro. HDR10+ and the DCI-P3 color gamut are supported by this 10-bit panel. The brightness can be adjusted to properly fit the conditions thanks to two ambient light sensors (one on the front and one on the back).

While tracking several fingers, the display has a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a touch sampling rate of 720 Hz. A magnetic shoulder button that pops up on the phone's side and employs a gaming-grade micro switch is also included.

The phone has two symmetrical 1.5 cc cavity speakers. With 86 points, the 5 Pro is presently the best phone in DxOMark's audio chart (beating its predecessors by 5 points). A linear X-axis motor is also included for improved haptic feedback. Each of the phone's four sides has four microphones, ensuring that your voice is always picked up clearly.

A 108 MP main camera with a 1/1.52" sensor, as well as a 13 MP ultra wide-angle camera (120°) and a 5 MP telephoto macro lens, are mounted on the back (it focuses at 3-7 cm distance).

Starting on April 2, the Black Shark 5 Pro will be available for CNY 4,200 ($660/€595/50,000). This is only for China; a global rollout will be revealed later. To get in line, you can make a CNY 100 deposit at the official online store.
