During the finale of Square Enix keynote at E3 2021, the company unveiled an announcement trailer for its action-packed Final Fantasy spinoff game, Stranger Of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Final Fantasy veterans Tetsuya Nomura and Kazushige Nojima will be collaborating with Koei Tecmo Games' renowned action game studio Team Ninja in developing the said game title and deliver a bold new vision for Final Fantasy.

Legendary Final Fantasy director and producer, Tetsuya Nomura from Square Enix Japan, provided a statement sharing his thoughts about the upcoming action-heavy game, "While it is Final Fantasy, it feels different — but there’s no doubt that the blood of Final Fantasy runs through its veins. We’ve undertaken the challenge of finding this difficult middle ground for this mature and stylish title. We need a little time until we’re able to complete it, and while the battle system is a bloody one, it does link to the story, so I hope you’ll use this opportunity to give it a try.”

The trailer presented a lot of in-game footage featuring a man named Jack, along with his colleagues Ash and Jed, facing off against their enemies throughout the gothic environment of the Chaos Shrine. The combat gameplay featured finishing techniques that transform monsters and other opponents into crystal, allowing them to be permanently destroyed, as well as the the classic Final Fantasy villain Garland who claims he has now become “Chaos".
