Tales of Arise Trailer revealed new Next-Gen screenshots and PS5 features

Tales of Arise, the latest installment in the long-running Tales of series, has received a new trailer from Bandai Namco. The most recent video focuses on the playable characters Alphen, Shionne, Rinwell, and Law, and shows them using their strong Mystic Artes.

Fans of the Tales JRPG series have been hoping for a new game from Bandai Namco for years. Tales of Arise is now set to be released in September of this year, and Bandai Namco is trying hard to convince fans that the wait was well worth it. Bandai Namco is demonstrating Tales of Arise on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S as part of this initiative.

Bandai Namco has divided the next-gen features planned for Tales of Arise into features shared across the PS5 and X/S platforms and PS5-exclusive ones. The common next-gen features are extras that gamers anticipate from games developed for next-generation systems. The first is that loading times are faster than on current-generation consoles. There will be two graphical options on both the PS5 and XS platforms. On both next-gen consoles, performance mode will emphasize 60 frames per second, while graphics mode will emphasize 4K resolution.

Zephyr, a new support character from Bandai Namco, was also introduced. In Calaglia, Zephyr is the leader of the "Crimson Crow" rebel organization. He aids Alphen and Shionne in their fight against Calaglia's monarch, Balseph, and his subordinates respect him.

Bandai Namco is also touting two PS5-only capabilities that aren't available on Xbox's next-generation consoles. The first is logical, since it refers to the PS5's DualSense wireless controller's capabilities for haptic feedback. The second is a little perplexing. It's labeled "Game Help" and characterized just as "assistance." Though it isn't stated directly, Game Help might be referring to the PS5's unique Activities function, which allows players to load into certain times in a game to fulfill certain challenges and objectives. Bandai Namco is expected to expand on this at a later time.

Bandai Namco has released around 30 new Tales of Arise screenshots. These pictures are supposed to be from Tales of Arise's next-gen version, thus these are the visuals that players can anticipate from the game at its highest graphics setting. The screenshots largely feature characters from Tales of Arise, with a few fighting shots thrown in for good measure.
