Team Secret hints that its interested in venturing into the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang esports scene.
The CEO of the esports organization, Team Secret, asked its fans through a social media post if he should build an MLBB team. He said that he’s also open to buying out an entire team if the fans think it’s the best course of action to take.
As of the moment, Team Secret has several esports teams under it. The esports titles it invested on are Dota 2, Valorant, PUBG Mobile, Rocket League, Rainbow Six Siege, and League of Legends (LoL) PC. Previously, it also had a Wild Rift team but they disbanded it back in November 2022.
As revealed by Team Secret’s CEO John Yao, one of the biggest esports organizations in the world might be entering the esports scene of the popular MOBA, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang. He expressed his interest in building an MLBB team through a Facebook post. He also asked if the fans would like that, as well.
Team Secret’s Philippines country manager, Yamyam Yui, also hinted that the organization is interested to join the tournament and compete for a chance to have a spot in the M5 World Championship.
Shortly after the post was made, John Yao also posted a follow-up post asking Filipino MLBB players, who are currently free agents, to contact Yamyam. They didn’t mention what they plan on doing with these free agents but this is maybe the sign that Team Secret is really serious about building its first MLBB team in the Philippines.
This announcement actually surprised the fans as the CEO was previously hesitant to venture into the MLBB esports scene with reasons of MLBB only catering into the Southeast Asian region, specifically here in the Philippines and Indonesia, which is unlike other games such as DOTA 2 and LoL PC that are well-known globally.
However, as MLBB is now getting popular in other regions as well, the expansion and steady growth of the game’s fanbase may have swayed the CEO and convinced him to start building their own MLBB team.

“We look for global games, so for PUBG with Tencent's backing and everything, the world championship has been in Dubai, it has been in Southeast Asia. Like they move tournaments across different regions of the world. There are teams from all over that are participating,” said John Yao. "We like that. So a lot of the Tencent games and a lot of the Riot games, we're very high on. And that's one of the reasons why we have not chosen MLBB to get into. Yet."
