The Summoner’s Cup, the championship trophy hoisted by the winning team at the League of Legends World Championship each year, has arrived in Shanghai, China as well as its one-of-a-kind Louis Vuitton Trophy Travel Case. Both Cup and Case will be on display for all to see at this weekend’s final Worlds match at Shanghai Pudong Football (Soccer) Stadium.
Last year, Riot Games and Louis Vuitton announced their landmark partnership that saw the iconic French House pair with the most popular esports event in the world, the League of Legends World Championship, or Worlds. The bespoke Louis Vuitton trunk, the first of its kind designed for an esports championship, was unveiled at the Eiffel Tower in Paris in November 2019 and features both traditional Louis Vuitton craftsmanship along with cutting-edge, high-tech elements inspired by the League of Legends universe.
“The Summoner’s Cup has become a global icon symbolizing the mastery of the pro players who hoist it and the passion of millions of fans who have fueled LoL Esports for the last decade,” said Naz Aletaha, Head of Global Esports Partnerships and Business Development, Riot Games. “Louis Vuitton has a tradition of honoring the most prestigious trophies in the world of sports, and we are honored that the Summoner’s Cup is no exception.”
In celebration of this ongoing partnership, Louis Vuitton has dressed global music superstars K/DA* during their pre-concert promotions around Shanghai, as well as on-stage performer and musician, Lexie Liu, for her show stopping performance alongside K/DA during the Worlds 2020 Opening Ceremony. The House will also host Chinese actor, singer, and model Dylan Wang at the World Championship final as a guest of honor.
*Consisting of Ahri, Akali, Evelynn, and Kai'Sa and their guest artist Seraphine.
