Well, it seems that War of the Visions solve that matter to know what happened before the events of Brave Exvius. Sadly, it has only been featured in Japan since November 2019. But fret no more, fans of the West. They have just released the mobile game recently!
War of the Visions: Final Fantasy Brave Exvius shows us the Ardia in the continent of Lapis, engulfed in war as rival nations fight each other. The main hightlight is the two brothers, Mont and Stern in Leonis. But there would be various characters as well such as in the Houses of Hourne, Wezette, Fennes and in the Crystal Sanctum.
WotV has the battle system akin to Final Fantasy Tactics, where you move your six character party to the battlefield which they can attack opponents and heal allies. Their attack system varies per character, then you can also use the environment to your advantage in the battlefield, such as falling trees and open doors. Some places would be elevated while others would be in the low grounds. Various advantages and disadvantages might come up along the way. So you either use Espers or find a preferable job in the Job System.
Each character would have 3 fixed jobs that would affect their specialties and their proficiency in combat. However, you would play them depends on your choices. There will be no doubt, variance on how to play a character and how it would affect combat. Well, if you are still having problems. You can use and equip vision cards that yuou would summon espers to your side. These entities would have the power to harm your enemies or affect the battlefield by having affinity changes on the area. Making things work in your favor, they would prove to be indispensable.
While the worry of others that the game might have greedy microtransactions due to the history of Square Enix in the hearts of the mobile game players.
